Help identify this brooch

No markings on this brooch. I'm pretty sure it's silver on the back but any ideas on the Metal on the front? Also any ideas on date or maker? I believe the extra long pin makes it older. 

I did clean the back (a no-no I know).

Hi,

I have this style in both Danish and early 20th century Mexican Silver - strange but true. If I'm not mistaken although the metal looks different it is all Sterling Silver or 800 Silver (my guess is sterling). The outer edges being oxidized or japaned. 

Kind of vague but I hope it helps

You can research the clasp/pin attachment , not that it would identify the item, but will give you good dates of age 🙂
