Technical problems with Email and messages?

I just had two buyers contacting me, both messages received in Ebay messaging and my private email, both asking if I had received their messages asking me, one to cancel a purchase done by accident and the other asking to return a new with tags purse.

In both cases I had not received anything prior, not on my messages or inbox, junk folder.... I checked everywhere.

 

I want to make sure everything (at least with Ebay messaging) is working right, because it looks like very poor customer service to ignore such requests, giving even perhaps the perception that I am lying to avoid doing what they ask for.

The purchase cancellation was done inmediately after receiving the request  "again". The return request I am still waiting to hear again from the buyer.

If everything working, then I do not get what's going on.
