Subscription to thread error.

If I subscribe to a thread by merely clicking on the option on the thread's drop down menu, I never get any notification that there have been responses to the thread.

If I subscribe to a thread automatically by posting a response to the thread, then I get notifications of additional responses, i.e. the way it should work.

This glitch has been going on for as long as I can remember.

I have the opposite experience.  I am notified of new responses only if  I’ve specifically subscribed to the thread.

We have to set our Notification Preferences (whatever it’s called) to receive emails when someone replies to a thread we’ve responded to … something I haven’t done, since I respond to too many threads.  

There apparently IS a glitch, however, if you’re not getting notifications on threads you’ve subscribed to.  [I guess it could be happening to me as well without my realizing it.]

Hi @alcoforever, is it possible that you have notifications turned off for threads you have subscribed to in your setting under my setting > subscriptions & notifications > notifications? There are many settings surrounding notifications so hopefully this will help.

Please let me know if there was a problem in your settings I will also look into testing notifications for subscribing to a thread.

Notifications are turned on and I get notifications regularly whenever I comment in a thread.   But when I just subscribe to a thread without commenting in the thread, I never get notifications.

@alcoforever I Had a few more questions for you on this subscription error. 

1. Which thread are you trying to follow that you found this issue? I want to try to replicate it there 
2. Is the notification you are waiting for in your email or in the notification bell? the notification for the subscription would not show up in the notification bell but it will show up in email since you have you email notifications turned on.

If you could answer any of these questions that would be very helpful!
