First Attempt at ACEO!

Hi everyone! I came across this group earlier tonight and fell in love with the concept! I immediately cut a piece of masonite to size, gessoed it, and created my first ACEO! I'm not much of an artist, but I really think this could become an addictive hobby really quickly! Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us Cheers! Stormy

Re First Attempt at ACEO!

Julee These prices are for online postage. You get a discount for printing & shipping from home. Delivery confirm is 75 cents at the post office & 18 cents online. I just put my envelopes out in the mailbox for the post man to pick up. It is GREAT not having to drive to the post office & wait in line! -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

Sue, I went to the US Postal Service website and could not find how to send a letter size envelope with Delivery Confiramtion. The only options it gave were to "register" the letter which cost several dollars or obtain a Mailing Certificate for $1.05. I hate to be a bother but is there any way you could send me a link (through Contact Member) to where I need to go to get these rates? The only complaint I've ever had concerning my art is about my shipping fees and I'd love to be able to bring them down. Thanks. julee

Re First Attempt at ACEO!

Julee, No bother at all!~ Don't put in "letter size envelope". It needs to be a parcel to get delivery confirmation. (Greeting card envelopes aren't big enough to be parcels). That's why I use 6 x 9 inch envelopes (plus, the postage label just fits on that size envelope!) First of all, I print my postage through Paypal. Do you use PayPal with your Ebay account?? Thats step 1. I think you won't get the same discount on the USPS site, but I could be wrong on that... -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm -- Edited by wild_watercolors at 01/28/2008 3:48 PM

Yes, I do use PayPal. I always just assumed postage is postage and how could it be any cheaper than the US Post Office, right? 😮 I never would have thought I could ship it cheaper by buying my postage through PayPal. I will check into it there and see if I can figure it out. If not, I may come back pestering you with more questions. (Grasshopper has much to learn...) Thanks again.

Re First Attempt at ACEO!

Trust me, I have tons to learn & love to pester the people here!!heehee On your items sold page: doesn't it say "Print Shipping Label" next to a sold item? Click that & it will take you to PayPal where you sign in & then it walks you through the steps. Choose "1st class", then "thick envelope" rather than letter or package, then put in weight 1 or 2 oz., (weigh the item 1st!) then it will say delivery confirmation is required & ask if you want "signature delivery confirmation" (I always say no unless I OK it with the buyer & its an expensive item), then it will ask if you want insurance (which it will have filled in if the buyer paid for insurance), then it will ask if you want the postage displayed on the package (I say yes to show my buyers that I am charging them what the postage is), then it will ask if you are ready to proceed & take you to the next page where you can overlook everything including see your price, you can still go back to the first page & edit your choices at this stage. Once you've got it the way you like it, click pay & it will use your PayPal account to pay for the postage & print your label. I always have to click the "reprint label" for some reason to get my label to print`probably my settings...you might not run into that. It's easy, & once you do it, you'll never want to go to the Post Office again! :) -- ~Sue :) my listings!http://stores.ebay.com/Wild-Watercolors-Art-Gallery_W0QQsspagenameZMEQ3aFQ3aSTQQtZkm

Sue, I purchased my first shipping label form PayPal today. And I revised my current auctions to have a lower shipping fee. Which will hopefully help encourage my watchers to become buyers. Thank you again. julee

Gessoed masonite! That is alot of preparation for something as small as a playing card! I am impressed.
