Monthly Chat - June 7th at 1:00 pm PST

We are excited to announce that June’s Monthly chat will be held a week early. We will be joined by Stephanie Hall from the Up & Running Grants team who will be discussing the 2023 Up & Running Grants! Be sure to join us for an exciting session on June 7th at 1:00 pm PST.

Thanks for joining us for the Monthly Chat with eBay Staff and the Up & Running Grant team.

The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.

To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, type your question, and hit submit between 1-2 PM Pacific Time. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically. The International Shipping team and Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep scrolling down to see our answers.

As a reminder, we want the Up & Running team to be able to get to as many members as possible during the allotted hour, so we have a few things to ask of you:

  • Keep on topic
  • Scroll through the list of questions to see what has already been asked to decrease chances of redundancy

Keep the message/question simple and no more than one to two items. If you include multiple questions in a post, please be aware that they may not be addressed during the chat and (specialist name) will do their best to follow-up with it after the chat has closed

Missed the chat? Send your questions to the podcast by calling 888-723-4630 or email us at podcast@ebay.com and maybe your questions will make it on the air! Or listen to past episodes while you wait for next month!

Now in its 4th year, the Up & Running program—a series of annual grants that reward promising eBay small business sellers and give them the tools they need to bring their businesses to the next level.  Supporting entrepreneurialism is in eBay's DNA, and these grants further the success of small businesses with resources for physical and digital store improvements, new equipment and inventory, hiring, training and marketing.

This year, eBay has added to the $10,000 grant an additional stipend worth $500 that each Up & Running Grant recipient can use to equip themselves with essential office technology and tools from eBay Refurbished.

Now through Friday, June 9, 2023 at 6pm (EST), eBay small business sellers in the US are encouraged to apply for Up & Running Grant package that includes $10,000 cash, a technology stipend and business acceleration coaching. Business sellers will be asked to share details of their small business and how they plan to use the grant to accelerate their growth.

Apply Now

Stephanie Hall is here from the Up & Running Grants team to answer any questions about applications or the grant program!

Is it possible to obtain your criteria and the application in print format (like a PDF file) without having to open an account and applying?

I want to amend  my goals for the year to include things I need / should do to be eligible for next year.

Hi, I’d recommend viewing the application on Hello Alice’s website and copying questions 45-48 under “The Most Important Part” to review and keep for working on your goals.

A reminder that all business sellers on eBay are eligible! I’d recommend applying this year as well as next year! https://helloalice.com/grants/ebay/

Many years ago, we applied for an SBA loan. At the time, a very honest representative told us to not waste our time because we were not in what we would today call a "marginalized" segment of entrepreneurs.  That forced our business to grow and survive by its own bootstraps.

Will eBay's grant be awarded to business owners across the full spectrum, or will the grants bias toward "protected" or "disadvataged" groups?

up&running@ebay

Wonderful links and it sort of  proves my point , none of these sellers have less than 2k listings.

What about the little guys, the ones that have less than 1k listings do they even stand a chance?

Hi, our Up & Running Grantees end up being a very diverse group of sellers with a mix of part-time and full-time sellers as well as sellers across various categories. Each application is run through 2 rounds of reviews and is judged blind based on the applicants’ answers to the questions about your selling goals and plans on how to use the grant.

If you are interested in learning more about our past grantees, one of our 2022 grantees Lorri Rathz recently presented at our Summer Seller Check-In about hiring and training employees. View her presentation here- 2023 Summer Seller Check-In — 3 Keys to Training and Hiring Employees
