SELLER Protection, HA HA BUYER disputes purchased item opens claim with their finical institution.

EASY AS PIE  -  BUYER disputes purchased item  - and they get their money and item. No backing from EBay, claim finical institution is above them and nothing they can do. Think they would reimburse seller, NOPE.  EASY AS PIE TO RIP OFF SELLERS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost impossible to talk to a real person now.
The automated system sucks.

No SELLER PROTECTION if buyer goes through their financial institution. You are out of luck. 15 years and they could care less. What a JOKE!

SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE EBAY  -  ARE YOU LISTENING???

It is unnecessary to create duplicate posts regarding the same situation.

What needs to change are the current laws that the financial institutions are forced to operate under. Financial institutions hate chargebacks as much as anyone since it requires resources that adversely impact the bottom line.

There are thing eBay could try to establish but those also require resources that impact the bottom line and there is little return to eBay for that investment.

That would be correct. I work B&M retail and if we get a chargeback, there is nothing we can do either. It is the financial institution that makes the final decision.

Huh?

Nothing you can do? Well when you do nothing, the results are always the same...

Why dont you try DISPUTING IT - We had nothing but a handful of chargeback attempts when running our store back in the 2000's(chargebacks have since turned into a scammers dream) - We only lost 1 or maybe 2 through 7 years of ownership.

Financial companies are reasonable - they are aware of fraud - They dont just automatically find against you - If you do nothing though, or habitually provide poor or incomplete information, or dont follow-up, they tend to make it short and sweet and find against you every time. My guess is thats the reason why no one wins chargebacks that come from selling here.

Payment disputes can be challenged and won by the seller by uploading tracking into the dispute. I have had 2 such disputes and won both.
If a seller just sits on their hands and does nothing to show proof such as tracking that the buyer has bought the item in question, then yes that seller will lose.

What you experienced is called a Chargeback Dispute.  That is when a buyer files a dispute directly with the payment source for the purchase.

There is some seller protection on these Disputes, but it is limited.  The financial institution is the one in the driver seat on these, NOT Ebay.  But a few questions need to be answered for some details that are important to understanding your specific situation.

What was the reason the buyer filed the Chargeback Dispute?

Did you submit any evidence to try and fight the Chargeback?

If so, what info did you supply them?

You / we actually need to be talking to our politicians on this matter, NOT Ebay.  Congress needs to change the laws that give financial institutions the legal right to do this.  Allow the buyer to keep the item AND get their money back.  Ebay nor any other similar site can change the laws.  We need Congress for that, but start with your local politicians.  That is who you need to be listening.
