Revising bid and buy now prices

I am selling academic journals on ebay. It is the first I have ever tried to sell anything on ebay.  I presume i am asking too much and  I would like to lower the price on the three items I have listed but it is not clear to me how to do that. I would appreciate advice on how to do this.

Look like you figured it out......

For reference:

FYI - It looks like you have a duplicate listing on this one....

Mediaeval Studies Volume XLIII (1981)

Another FYI, for what you are selling I don't think the Auction format is your best option. Many if not most buyers are just not that interested in auctions unless it's an actual rare item.

You may get no more sales by lowering your prices, unless you are going to sell low enough for another more patient seller to buy from you and wait for someone who really wants the journal and is willing to pay for it.

An economist would know that the prices for some items are "inelastic" demand does not increases when the price is lowered.

Selling by auction is not the way to sell low demand items.

These items are also called long tail. They are profitable at high prices and sell slowly.

When I buy, I ask myself

1. Is this item of merit?

2. What would someone who wants it be willing to pay?

3. Does anyone care?

Depending on what my answers are, I decide what I am willing to pay for the item. if I am willing to pay.

I am prepared for it to take years to sell some items. I do not try to fool myself into thinking I can sell them in less time by anything I do. So long as no one else has the identical item, I have the space, and I paid little enough, this strategy works. You cannot run this sort of business with 3 listings. You will probably need more than 3,000 listings to be worth the effort, and depending on what you can find, you might need 10,000 or more listings to have a modest income.

You have two listings for the same book Mediaeval Studies.  Not only two listings, but two different shipping amounts.  You may want to look at those and make sure there isn't a mistake.

The book Journal of History, you either need to raise your shipping rate or raise your price of the item.  Media mail up to 1 pound will cost you 4.13 if you purchase it online.  And that is exactly the amount you have in the listing for shipping.  You don't allow room for Ebay fees or sales tax.  You either need to bring that up to cover your costs [estimate sales tax, average is about 7.5%] or increase the price of your product to cover these costs.  Either way is perfectly fine.  Whatever works best for you.
