Hello, I would like to know if the metal piece near the knob on these antique stationary doorknobs is a thumb latch release?

Can't answer your question but your 3rd picture has some writing I can't quite read...looks like some word followed by 30 76.

If the word is a manufacturer or model name that might be a clue to help track it down if you haven't gone that route already.
