I think eBay needs to control use of the word "restrike" in coin listings. A "restrike" should be a coin using original dies at a later date than that of original minting. Too many people use that word when they mean "replica" (a copy based on the orginal dies), or "fantasy coin". What do other folks think?

Exactly.
Unfortunately the "coin industry" has no leadership - just a bunch of selfishly pompous and egregious personalities flaunting their own wares and past exploits. The American Numismatic Association and Professional Numismatists Guild are mumm on the matter. So too, are the third part grading services.
A standard nomenclature, hashed out and adopted by a leading entitiy in the "industry", would filter down to the "hobby" level with promotion and wide dissemination. Enforcing via policy, like in the coin listing policy here on eBay, would just reinforce the use and help prospective bidders/buyers weed out the carpy chafe "restrike" from the real mccoy and numismatically valuable "restrike".
Caveat empter - when it should be caveat venditor.
