multiple book purchases

potential buyer wishes to buy about 10 books. I'm willing to adjust the shipping fee, in this case with media mail. how do I suggest he withhold his payment until I can determine a fair shipping price for a bulk purchase?

Just tell the buyer to use the ADD TO CART for each of the books he wants to purchase, and then use the REQUEST TOTAL option.  Then you can send an Invoice after you determine how much media mail will cost.
