Can anyone identify this Asian object?

I found this recently at an estate auction....It measures 5 1/4" x 7 5/8" wide....Any info on the purpose of this object and the type of stone used would be appreciated!

Maybe it's for burning incense.  That's just what popped into my head.

This should be made in contemporary China. It was made by  imaginations and may have no practical use.
