18th C. Colonial Piece?

Can someone please help me ID the who, what, when, where, etc. of this tinned-copper/brass piece? Appears to be Colonial, but I could be wrong, possibly used for tobacco or tea??

The piece is decorated with what appears to be a crest(?) with confronting seahorse or dolphin and crowns throughout.

Size roughly: 9 x 7-1/2 x 7 in.

Thank you!

18th C. Colonial Piece?

Looks to be from India (note the crown)  and does not look to be 18th c.but possibly late 19th cent. Made to mimic an earlier time. I see a lack of quality workmanship and no real wear for it to be 18th c.

I'll add that it is showing the design layout lines scribed into the brass.

I did notice an older repair to the base; it looks to have been fitted with 4 feet and lost a foot and was converted into a tripod layout to make it sit level. You can see the remnants of the original configuration.

Impossible to tell from a few online pictures, but to me the crudeness of it screams "Pier One" circa 1975.
