Watch authentication problem

Has this happened to you? I sold a Piaget watch on ebay. The watch worked fine when it left my possession Sept. 10. On sept 30th I get a notice that ebay refunded the money to the customer because the watch doesn't work. When i received the watch back the crown won't turn like it is overwound. They broke my watch!  I call ebay and they said they will side with the authenticator. They sent the watch to Stoll? (but would not give me any info, on them). I am livid! they broke my watch and it will cost $300 to $500 to fix! I thought the authenticator program was good till now. So now I am worried do I stop selling high end watches on Ebay?  Since ebay doesn't seem to want to protect us against this type of issue.

Re: Watch authentication problem

You claim it worked fine: but I have no idea if you are telling the truth..

Such is the internet and selling and buying on it.

Re: Watch authentication problem

Of course I am telling the truth. Why would I sell a broken watch only to have it returned?

Re: Watch authentication problem

I also send my watches to stoll for authentication. they come highly recomended  by one of the largest dealers on ebay in Florida

maybe the watch case was put back together causing the crown /stem to bind

watches are not really checked for time keeping.....its more or less if they run or not

 and are as described

watches do not have to keep time to pass the check

modern lever watches are self starting and cant really be overwound or it would break

a manual wind watch that fails to run is in need of service or has a bad staff

Re: Watch authentication problem

I would film each watch on You tube to show both the date and the full function of each watch Sold, just add that link ,,,, in your description Add 100%%% no returns , sad but they probably used your watch to fix there watch striping your's of all the gears, thus leaving your good watch inoperative , sounds sick and twisted but lots of snakes...

Good luk...

Re: Watch authentication problem

the OP has spread some bad karma around with a fake IWC marriage watch

I think the reason some sellers have problems is that they are selling put toegethers and have no clue as to what they are supposed to be

the Japansese resellers are deep into the Kiev put togethers and just look plain stupid when  they advertise the watches that are put togethers

when you advertise a put together it makes all of your listings suspect

Re: Watch authentication problem

You have to take a picture of the movement and place it on your venue showing your movement serial number so you wouldn't get it switched and the inspection of head of screws be easy for foul play ... that'll give you some protection

Re: Watch authentication problem

They have to side with the Authenticate company. Otherwise everyone with a broken watch could do this and make eBay eat it.  It could have been about to show its damage and did so in shipping. Its really hard to tell. Could be that the company did indeed break it. You could have taken a Video of it working and you winding it and setting it as you are packing it in the box. I bought an Omega Seamaster and used the Authentication and it was fine.
