Beaded Item Identification Needed - Circa 1830s - John L. W. Tilton and Ann W. Whitman

I hope there is someone who can tell me what this is... It is a beaded strip about 43" long x 7/16". There are various symbols on it - double hearts, a key, etc. It does have a clasp on it. The piece is broken. The gold-colored beads have not tarnished and I think thet must be gold... There is a message on the piece - it reads: This and the Giver is Thine Forever. And it has two names on it - John L. W. Tilton and Ann W. Whitman. I found John in several places - He was a student at Phillips Exeter Academy in 1829.  In 1842, he was in Lowell, Mass. and was a member of The Social Fraternity, a literary and fraternal organization." He also was an instructor at the Academical and theological Instittution in New Hampton, N.H. sometime between 1831 and 1850. I could find no record of a marriage for him...  Does anybody know what this was? Thanks, D
