Vintage slide photography item

Can someone tell me what this is?  I acquired it along with a batch of slide carousels and one slide clip set, so I'm inclined to think it's related to these items, but do not have a clue.  I recently sold a Kodak Slide Clip Set for EC Stack Loader-EC44 and wonder if this item should be included.  Any input is appreciated.

it's what's used on a desktop computer to cover the slot where you can install a CD/DVR drive or a floppy drive...

that may not be what it is, but it's gotta be something similar...
