Spoof e-mails

I have received the following message from ebay: >it appears that a third party gained access to your eBay account and used it to send emails to other eBay members without your authorisation. >Let me assure you that we already notified the members who received the unauthorised emails and advised them to ignore the email. If other members contact you, please explain the situation to them. Please ask them to send us an email if they have any further queries. They can contact us from any eBay Help page. If anyone has received an odd e-mail purportedly from me, please let me know and the content. Who would do such a thing? Alan

Spoof e-mails

Another important question is, how did a third party gain access to your eBay account?

I challenged ebay that this had happened, but they insisted that someone had indeed broken into my account and that I had to change passwords etc.

E-mail headers are often forged. The phishers might have discovered this. I would like to see such a spoof e-mail purportedly from you.

If you look in "sent items" do you see strange emails?

Spoof e-mails

That does not need to mean anything because the e-mails from one member to another are sent by the eBay system (kind of webmail).
