Hello,
Whatever happen to being able to calculate shipping right in the listing you were working on? Using seller hub and templates my only choice is to set up a business policy for shipping. Is this because I use seller hub? Is there a way to opt out of that and get the calcultor back in my listing and then what I enter in that is applied to the listing? I like the shipping policy choices for Priority boxs/flat rates, and first class but when it comes to different weights and size boxes I really want to do each listing separately with in the listing and it doesn't appear that I can. Sometimes I have the option to edit the policy for the listing I am working on and sometimes I don't. That said I don't want to creat a whole new policy for one listing. Maybe I am missing this somewhere. Thank you.

I see the option whether I'm creating a template or just a listing (without a template). I don't have any templates already created though. Are you using one as your base that already has flat shipping and it won't let you change?

I've tried both. I have both templates and I've tried from scratch and both ways it makes me use business policies. Perhaps I need to opt out of seller hub.

I don't use business policies, but I understand you can have many. Perhaps the one you are choosing is set up with flat shipping. Have you tried editing them or creating a new policy with Calculated?
I know @penguins_dont_fly uses business policies. Maybe she can help.

It appears the only way to get back to the old way is opting out of policies. I am not sure how that would affect my current listings. Also, they give me a warning saying I will be "forced" to use policies once they are availalbe to everyone. It wasn't that big of a deal until I decided to get back into hard goods. I will keep tooling around with it and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for the replies.

Business Policies for Shipping do not include size/weight of the package. It is only carrier/method/handling charge and handling time.
If you use the same 1-2 methods all the time, policies make it so that you don't have to enter that basic info every time.
You choose the policy (Domestic USPS First Class, 0.50 handling fee, 1 day shipping) and then you enter the size/weight of the package.
(Or whatever your policy is)
Once a Policy is attached to listings, editing the policy changes ALL of those listings at once.
I wrote a "beginners guide" a long time ago ... maybe that will help ...
Errr ... maybe not ... it seems that the PT seller's group (where I posted it) has been culled of old posts 😞 *sigh* That thing took a long time to put together with screenshots and instructions *sigh*
@bringitbackagain .... You can PM me (or tag me) with any specific questions that you have.
Let me just say that setup is a bear, but once it's set up, it makes life a bit simpler.

Thank you, yeah I knew all that but the issue is you can change the details of the box size and weight on the main listing screen once you pick the policy but only for domestic shipments/and the global shipping center. If I want to do International direct and circumvent GS I can't. since if you go into the policy and update the box info there it will update all the listings you are using that policy on to the same box size and weight. That is why I want to be able to do it with each listing. Like back in the day 🙂 If you notice on the snippit I attached there is not option to update international box details. I don't want to use Global shipping for first class international. I guess it is what it is. Thanks for the input. Deb

You can set up 2 separate policies ... one for under 4 lbs FCI direct and the second for 4 lbs GSP (I think ... I ship direct without GSP on all items) you set up the international in the policy.
Mine look like this (I've simplified since that 2014 post LOL)
Then when creating a listing, I just use the dropdown to pick ... under/over

Here's an article I found online about how GSP works with Business Policies ... I can't check it since I dont use GSP

(bad, bad penguin ... I gave the same screenshot twice up there and can't edit)
The one up there is my "over 4 lb" policy
Here's my under 4 lbs

(here I am talking to myself again LOL)
Go directly to the Business Policy page to set up the policies ... editing through the listing doesn't give you the full control.
https://www.bizpolicy.ebay.com/businesspolicy/manage
Create 2 new policies. One with GSP and one without
