i just listed a few items for sale and chose the calculate shipping so buyers get their own shipping cost. When I check my listings it shows 7.55 as the shipping cost. Why? What am I doing wrong? I don't want to cheat myself. What do I do?

When you look at your listing the shipping is calculating to send from you to you, so it will show the local rate. Go to the payments tab and you can put in a delivery zip code for a distant state and you will get a different rate.
I am in WA and see $13.19

I'm in Tennessee and I see $8.91. Have you allowed for ample shipping to double box those dolls? An 18" doll might exceed the new USPS size surcharge. Is that included on the listing form for the right size package?

As long as your package information is correct you are good. Remember to round up your dimensions to the nearest inch and the weight to the nearest pound (if over 1 pound), so 1lb 6oz to 2lbs.

Make absolutely sure you have the outer box dimensions and weight correct. I did a quick look and it appears that if your 'outer box' is a couple inches too big, you jump to the next level in shipping charges (cubic measurements)...
The calculator should get that right (USPS) ...according to the ebay calculator, UPS is about the same price but much quicker to here....(these were the dimensions I used for testing)

USPS price will jump for packages that have (1) volume greater than 1 cubic foot (1728 cubic inches) or (2) length over 22 inches. If your package dimensions are below those thresholds, then they will have no effect on the postage price. If the package in your example was 23 inches long instead of 22, there would be a $4 surcharge. eBay's shipping calculator and label form do reflect these surcharges.
