Yes it’s right. The buyer doesn’t have to prove anything. When you get the club back you can file an appeal to get the return shipping cost back.

returns

It does not matter what is the truth, in these sort of situations you must make sure that you approve the return (even though you may feel it is unfair to pay for the return).

If you do not approve the return- for example, you feel that you want to claim that you are right and eBay should respect you because you are an honest, long-time seller - then you are going to get a shock.  The case will eventually get escalated and you will lose the case.   This will be bad because ...

  1. You will be forced to refund the money.
  2. The buyer will get to keep the golf club.
  3. eBay will punish you with a seller defect.
  4. You will not be refunded eBay or PayPal seller fees.

So ... yes, it is best to go ahead and accept the return and pay for it.  Then, as jen_proudleowife pointed out, you can argue with eBay about the buyer abusing the Money Back Guarantee program, and they may give you a courtesy refund of the shipping costs.
