when listing items, using mobile app or computer, i list in various quantities and choose whatever sized priority mail box will fit, or enter in the weight and dimensions of package i'll use.
Problem come when customer buys multiple quantities of same item and ebay only charges shipping cost for one item. I've tried changing several options, modifying the listing etc, with no results.
examples:
1.) one item will ship in a padded flat rate envelope; customer purchases 3 and ebay charges for one flat rate envelope price
2.) item weighs 8lbs, dimensions 18" x 10" x 4" using calculated shipping, customer buys 4 and ebay charges shipping for one item
how can i fix this? im not asking customer for more in shipping, i want to fix my listings so the shipping is correct. the listings are fixed-price not auction style

Check your shipping settings under the Allow Combined Shipping Payment section. I had a hard time with this as well. As far as your current listings goes, if this is not set up before you list your items, it will not allow you to change once the item is listed. Does that make sense? Like I said, I had this problem too and figured it out before I listed any other products. Hope this helps you. If you need anything else or help with anything, please let me know. Have a great day!

Have you set up your combined shipping rules HERE ? You would set up flat rate and/or calculated combined shipping rules and then if you want them to apply to specific listings, you would check off to use your combined shipping rules in those specific listings. (in the shipping details section)
When you use a flat rate envelope/box the calculator doesn't know what to do if more than one item is added because it doesn't know how many items fit in that package or what package you will be using for more than 1 item. There may be another way to do it but in that situation, I would use a flat rate since the cost for a package using flat rate packing is the same to everywhere in the US and then I would add a dollar amount in the 'each additional' shipping cost field. So if adding another item means that you have to switch to a larger flat rate package, add in that extra cost there. I believe that 'each additional' field defaults to zero if you don't fill it in. You can add those fields when a fixed price listing is active.
