Hi,
eBay needs proof of delivery in both ordinary transactions and resolving disputations.
However, when we looked up at tracking info, we can only see the zip code of where the package is delivered and an initial of the signature. As I've experienced several times, as long as some person signed the package in the address, USPS will show the initial of the receiver. No matter who actually got the package. So, it always seems that the packed is delivered to the correct person.
Then, how does eBay decide whether it's delivered to the correct address? If the shipping label is purchased through eBay, then eBay can know where the package is sent to. However, what if the shipping label is not generated via eBay? Does ebay have some speical access to the details of the address? Or, eBay has to rely on the zip code provided by tracking info to make a judgment?
I guess there might be similar curisousity with Paypal.

What you should have done is. Called the delivering Post Office (not the 800 number)asked to speak to the Postmaster or supervisor. Tell them informed delivery had a package being delivered and now it is saying it was delivered at ____time. It is not there.
The Postmaster can check it out and locate the carriers location on the computer. They can even text the carrier right on the scanner. They don't even have to wait till the carrier returns to the Post Office. Packages miss delivered and left at the wrong address for days would be hard to recover. If the carrier can turn around and recover it right away it is more likely to not have been opened, or hidden away.

Your nastiness is uncalled for. And YES, reading comprehension is fundamental. You should of ASKED me what I meant, since clearly you didn't understand.
You blamed the buyer, saying it was THEIR fault, when the post office delivered to the wrong address. It's not the buyer's fault. I explained again because you blamed the buyer, in which you are incorrect. The post office delivered it incorrectly = post office's fault.

Any one would clarify whether the full 5 digit zip code or the first 3 digits is used by ebay to determine delivery?
If 5 digits are used, then who can explain why @gergev lost the case almost automatically?
I guess, if the the seller used ebay to generate the shipping label, ebay may incline to favor seller in such a case? Have you guys heard about scammers are rerouting package and claim not received?

explanation is: Whoever or whatever didn't look any further than seeing the delivery status said Delivered.

Uh yeah not how that works. I got an email thru informed delivery that my package was delivered.
A few hours later a neighbor brought it to me......I'm the one who got the email but they got the package

- Informed Delivery notifies the email registered to 123 Main Street

- Informed Delivery notifies the email registered to 123 Main Street
- that the tracking number destined for 123 Main Street has been delivered
If the tracking number was actually going to 123 Maim Street instead, the Informed Delivery associated with 123 Maim Street would have been notified instead, and OP2 would never have been notified of that tracking number.
