Not to put eBay down, but this offer of eBay Standard Envelope Shipping needs some tweaking. I tried it out today and was disappointed. I physically took the envelope to the USPS post office to make sure that everything was acceptable and I did follow eBays procedures required to use this shipping service. To my surprise the envelope was unable to be "tracked". I asked a friend employed at the post office to check it out several times and the outcome was the same. Fortunately I was able to get to the office to put the item into a bubble mailer, relabeled, and shipped off in time. For now I will have to stay with my standard shipping to ensure my packages are trackable. It's a shame that I can't use eBays SES. Please get this shipping offer squared away. It can benefit the sellers by cutting the cost of shipping and that could be passed on the customers.

It's scanned only in the automated sorting machines. When I ship this way I get a notice of origination scan from the sorting center (usually, sometimes not) and then usually also from the destination sorting center, then it often says out for delivery and delivered but that isn't real, it can show up 2-3 days later. The nice thing is if it doesn't get there ebay will pay you for it (30 days later), and of course the cost is low.
I've probably shipped 30 or more items this way between my IDs and never had an issue.

I found out these facts anout the machine sorting and scanning.. It will show making it to the delivery service center - post office as an example. It will not show delivery to a mail box or address. I can't take a chance of not giving my customers a tracking number that only goes part way. I also like to keep an eye on my shipments. For now I keep the same routine. It's been solid for me.

I'm not sure why some people don't get delivery reporting, as I get about 95 percent so far out of about 200 envelopes. If you stick with it it may work for you too.

How does ebay pay you for it , I ask because I just tried using this method to ship and currently have five packages that have in transit for about a week now and all are due for delivery tomorrow, and I can already feel that I will be refunding the buyers and if I do I'm done shipping this way
