Ebay tracking information is often delayed, been that way for a while now. I usually just go the the carrier's website to view progress if I have a concern.

You are referring to ebay standard envelope? From what I understand it is considered metered mail and it doesn't have actually tracking as the postal workers can't use their scanners to scan it. It is scanned by machines at the sorting centers so if the envelope is unmachinable (usually too rigid) it won't be scanned. Also, it is scanned as delivered at the last sorting station, not at the buyer's actual address. I've been told that if you put it in the metered mail slot at your post office, it will get scanned faster than if you put it in the regular mail box or hand it to the clerk.
Note..I'm using the word sorting station and I'm not sure if that is the correct word but it gives you the general idea that it is not scanned by postal workers.

I don't think that the eBay standard envelope shows up on the usps website, only on eBay.

Many local post offices have done away with the "metered mail" slot, that's been my experience, so there may not be an advantage any longer. That being said, I have had a much better Ebay selling experience since the ESE system expanded categories came about.

"Many local post offices have done away with the "metered mail" slot"
I have not experience that myself -- perhaps that is happening in smaller post offices, without a business base which would find it beneficial?
If it is not inconvenient, I would shop around for a USPS lobby which includes a "Metered Mail" slot, unless your ESE experiences have been satisfactory even with the absence of a "Metered Mail" slot.
Several earlier threads on the subject of ESEs have mentioned how at least one USPS branch has attempted to ban the ESEs, or demand that ESE users pay higher postal rates.
The ESE is still apparently a "motherless child."
