I selected USPS Parcel Select Ground when I created the auction. I double checked it. I triple checked it.
When I go to buy postage, it gets change to USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope.
This is the third time this has happened and I do not understand why.

@thusspakezarathustra wrote:Right. And here’s the thing: Parcel Select Ground is not one of the options when I get to the “purchase label” stage. So, I select it when I’m creating the auction, and eBay changes that.
So, why are they offering it in the first place?
eBay allows sellers to offer a wide range of shipping services through their listings, but they don't offer every one of those services through their label purchase page.
A few examples include:
- Retail Ground (a retail service available exclusively at USPS retail locations)
- Parcel Select (currently available through eBay labels only to Top Rated Sellers, but can be purchased through any other online shipping provider that offers USPS)
- Media Mail (can only be purchased through eBay for select categories due to how much the service is abused. An item might qualify for MM even though eBay labels doesn't offer it for that category, but you can purchase it through any other online shipping provider that offers USPS or at the retail counter)
- Letter/Flat service (it's an untracked USPS First Class service which is the likely reason eBay doesn't offer it through their label platform)
The system will typically default to the first shipping option on the list (often Priority Flat Rate Envelope). You can purchase an alternate service through eBay, but if you want to purchase a label for the one designated on the listing then you can go to pirateship.com or to paypal.com/shipnow
What eBay should do (in my opinion) is add a section to their shipping help page that specifies exactly which services can be purchased through eBay labels and which services may be restricted based on category or seller status. tyler@ebay

The screen on your sales venue is a contract with Buyer. The screen on your postage purchasing service, is an option for Sellers ... eBay is suggesting an alternative shipping service on your postage screen, you can take it or dismissed it, all up to you

That’s actually a good idea!

I want what I’ve selected, to remain selected. I’ve offered that to the buyer and the buyer has agreed. Offering up a form of shipping that cannot work isn’t an alternative. It’s a waste of my time. I don’t want a suggestion, I don’t want a form of shipping that I cannot use. I want what I selected in the first place. Not sure why this appears to be too complex for you to grasp.

Did you come here to rant or look for help? It has been explained several times how it works on eBay with the level of service you/your buyer picked, yet you have to call out one responder with a rude reply! Now that you know how it works, don't offer it if you don't want to buy your label off the eBay platform.
Happy Sales!

Mind your own business—it’s obvious you don’t understand the situation. That responder has made delusional statements about “Software loves you” etc. You would know this if you had read their posts. As has been pointed out, this is a failure of eBay’s system. And it is called a complaint, not a rant.

Yes I understand what you are saying, but think you are not wanting to hear what others have told you. There is no failure in the eBay system, that is how it is now set up.

Well ... we answer this parcel select question every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. If eBay was doing a better job of informing sellers how the system is set up we wouldn't see this issue come up every single day.

I agree 100%, eBay needs to do a better job in communicating this.
I think the solution was given more than once and could have been accepted as such, then we all could have moved on.

Thank you for that. I do software support for a very large non-profit and I fix things like this constantly. So it is sort of striking to me that eBay can’t be bothered to communicate this issue. And how many others jump on you, blaming you for a systemic issue.
Oh well! Pirateship has none of these issues, so I’ll shift over to that.
