Zebra GX420T Label Printer Issue Part 2 - Is this printer actually supported??? HELP!!!!! :)

Hi. I have a Zebra GX420T label printer with 4 x 6 labels. I can print my shipping labels for USPS via eBay, but they are cut off. The printer calibration is correct and they tear at the right area, but the labels are incomplete. I see half of the info when it prints. Se the attached document. I will buy an item from someone's eBay listings if they can give me a solution! 🙂 I have tried updating the saved settings on the printing window as well as choosing the LP2844 setting on that window. Can anyone tell me how to get this to work? I am using Windows 7. Chrome has been updated as follows:

In Chrome, go to the “Menu”  icon, then choose “Settings“.
Scroll to the bottom and select “Advanced“.
In the “Privacy and Security” section, select “Content settings“.
Scroll down and select “PDF documents“, then switch it to “On“.

I also tried to print from the downloaded PDF file. It still cuts the label off. See the attached screenshots and pic of the labels. I called eBay, but I was just spoon fed info that is on the screen. I was told that it wasn't supported because it wasn't in the list. Thanks!  D

I can't help with your thermal printer issue, but maybe @rfmtm can.

I mostly wanted to point out that attaching docx documents is probably not the best idea to convey information. Word documents are a dangerous format (potential embedded macros, scripts, and numerous exploits), and most people with any security/malware awareness at all won't open them. PDF is a safer and more universal format, and jpg images are an even better choice and can be embedded right in the post directly.

Looking at your photos, the label is opening in Adobe and looks correct, but obviously appears to be printing in the wrong orientation.

This is odd as Adobe should output in Portrait, as shown in the preview.  You can test this, by changing the Target Printer in the preview window, and outputting to your laser/inkjet printer.  This will tell whether it is the Zebra or something else is going on.

Go check the following:

Check the orientation set in the Zebra printer preferences from the Control Panel.

Check the orientation set in the Page Setup in the browser.

To answer you question "is this printer actually supported".  Yes, it is backward compatible to the 2844 series.  However, since yours is the "T" model, instead of selecting the LP2844, try selecting the TLP2844, which is really its predecessor, although I doubt this will make any difference.

Thanks for the help. And oddly, I don’t see the Zebra printer in Control Panel. I only see my HP Deskjet there.

Open the Devices and Printers folder, right click your HP, scroll down to Printer Preferences, and see if the Zebra is hiding there.  If so, click the Zebra and check the settings.

I checked. I can't find it anywhere.

If it is not hiding behind the HP, are there any other printers?  If so right click and check them.

Otherwise it would appear the printer is not installed properly and not using the proper driver, which certainly would be causing problems like this.

I would try reinstalling the printer using the latest driver from the Zebra website.

I added the Zebra driver and it still wouldn't print correctly for me. I'm about to give up. What is the best label printer (4x6)? I am just going to buy one that is proven to work. Thanks for your help! D

Re: Zebra GX420T Label Printer Issue Part 2 - Is this printer actually supported??? HELP!!!!! :)

The DYMO 4XL is a great 4x6 printer for ebay/paypal and more reasonably priced than a Zebra.  However, there is no reason your Zebra should not be working properly.

Now that you have the driver reinstalled, go to the Control Panel and check the printer preferences, especially paper size and orientation.

Also if you still have a label to reprint, take a screen shot of the label preview to post.  That will tell a lot about what is going on.
