Wrong Tracking Number

Hello. 

I made a huge mistake and need help please.

I didn't put the correct tracking number on an item that I already shipped. What can I do to correct this?

Easy fix, go into your My eBay Sold page, and under the Activty tab you’ll find your items sold.  Pick the item and it lets you edit the tracking number.  You should also message the buyer with the new number.

You can add more tracking numbers but not remove any.  Be sure to message your buyer and explain why there is more than one and also include the correct number so they can check it.  Some panic when they see a non working tracking number.

The only way you can remove tracking numbers from an order is when you've voided one and replaced it with another. I have successfully done this on several occasions.

Does changing the tracking number actually work now?

The last time I did this (originally cut and paste item number instead by mistake) the new correct number was "dead". Though all was correct with the now right tracking number showing it never updated. Even when the postal site showed delivered nothing changed on eBay. Other items posted at the same time same service with the correct tracking from the start updated as normal.
