When will the madness end?

Today I had a customer open a case on a "parts/not working" listing for not as described. He couldnt use the phone on a particular network. eBay sided with him and allowed the return because even though I had it listed for parts/not working and untested, I used ebays 'feature catalog" that describes what features the phone has. Really? For parts or not working doesnt override any features? Ugh...

You appear to have a 30 day return policy so the only madness I see is a seller not willing to stand by his return policy. I see several phones listed "for parts or not working" and they have a 30 day return policy. So why didn't you accept the return?

I did accept the return. I didn't send a shipping label (was told not to by an eBay rep), because of buyers remorse.

Then the buyer opened an SNAD return so you should have issued a label without the rep telling you to....

See this is where you're not paying attention. It was sold for parts/not working. The buyer got it and wanted to start using it. Parts/not working means exactly that. In other words, it wasnt SNAD. Any reasonable person would read the auction, look at the reason for the return and say "buyers remorse". You seem snarky Missjen316, have I done something to offend you?

What’s the logic behind listing features of a non-working phone?

I haven't yet unleashed the snark but since you want to go there.... I'm paying attention here, you are not. The buyer may have had remorse but you seem to not yealize that his official return return was SNAD . And that is why you needed to accept the return and issue the label. The actual REASONING behind the return may have been remorse but when ebay asked him WHY he wanted to return it, he was given a list of reasons to choose from and he chose a reason considered SNAD. That is what it all comes down to.

For parts. Same as listing a non working vehicle. Camera may be used, volume control, battery, ribbons, LCD, etc...The phone as a whole, is not work, but it's parts have great value to shops that repair phones.

I like it when you're snarky! And that is where you're wrong. That may be true with USED items, but parts/not working means exactly that. Parts/Not working. Reason for return? It didn't work. Really?

BTW- I get 90% of SNADS closed in my favor. Why? Because I sell for parts/not working. Do you think someones going to open a SNAD if the item works? No. How can they open a SNAD if the item doesn't work, other than if I didn't describe any physical damage. This isn't my first rodeo MissJen.

Did you mention in the listing the phone powers on?

Never use eBay's catalog for your specifics, especially on "not working" items. Lesson learned.

Yes. Because it did. He complained because it didn't work on T-Mobile. It was sold for parts, not to work on T-Mobile. See many people buy these parts phones (cheaply) and think they can start using them. I list for parts/not working for a reason. Problem is some (not all) buyers don't slow down enough to read the description or they think they can get them to work. That's all fine, if you can, but i sold it to you for parts, not working.

Well, here's the thing. When a buyer opens a claim for NAD, he always wins unless you call in to eBay (on the phone, not in messaging and not in reply to the case) and convince the CS rep to actually read the listing, look at the category it was listed in, compare it to the buyer's complaint and find in your favor while you are on the phone.

Now HST, your listing says you take returns. We had Trinton on here to discuss that one time and he said that because you do take returns, turning a NAD return into a remorse is not something eBay generally does, even if you prove it was remorse. Their reasoning is that since you do take returns, the only issue is who has to pay return shipping. So in order to make this a pleasant buying experience for your customer, you should accept the return and pay for the label.

Not saying it hasn't been done or can't be done, it's just not a given that you can turn this around.
