Today I had a customer open a case on a "parts/not working" listing for not as described. He couldnt use the phone on a particular network. eBay sided with him and allowed the return because even though I had it listed for parts/not working and untested, I used ebays 'feature catalog" that describes what features the phone has. Really? For parts or not working doesnt override any features? Ugh...

You appear to have a 30 day return policy so the only madness I see is a seller not willing to stand by his return policy. I see several phones listed "for parts or not working" and they have a 30 day return policy. So why didn't you accept the return?

I did accept the return. I didn't send a shipping label (was told not to by an eBay rep), because of buyers remorse.
Then the buyer opened an SNAD return so you should have issued a label without the rep telling you to....

What’s the logic behind listing features of a non-working phone?

See this is where you're not paying attention. It was sold for parts/not working. The buyer got it and wanted to start using it. Parts/not working means exactly that. In other words, it wasnt SNAD. Any reasonable person would read the auction, look at the reason for the return and say "buyers remorse". You seem snarky Missjen316, have I done something to offend you?
I haven't yet unleashed the snark but since you want to go there.... I'm paying attention here, you are not. The buyer may have had remorse but you seem to not yealize that his official return return was SNAD . And that is why you needed to accept the return and issue the label. The actual REASONING behind the return may have been remorse but when ebay asked him WHY he wanted to return it, he was given a list of reasons to choose from and he chose a reason considered SNAD. That is what it all comes down to.

Did you mention in the listing the phone powers on?

Never use eBay's catalog for your specifics, especially on "not working" items. Lesson learned.

yes on at least one FPNW phone, it said the phone powers on.

Well, here's the thing. When a buyer opens a claim for NAD, he always wins unless you call in to eBay (on the phone, not in messaging and not in reply to the case) and convince the CS rep to actually read the listing, look at the category it was listed in, compare it to the buyer's complaint and find in your favor while you are on the phone.
Now HST, your listing says you take returns. We had Trinton on here to discuss that one time and he said that because you do take returns, turning a NAD return into a remorse is not something eBay generally does, even if you prove it was remorse. Their reasoning is that since you do take returns, the only issue is who has to pay return shipping. So in order to make this a pleasant buying experience for your customer, you should accept the return and pay for the label.
Not saying it hasn't been done or can't be done, it's just not a given that you can turn this around.
