After emailing back and forth with a seller, he tells me it's on the way and being shipped and provides a tracking code on Saturday afternoon. Monday now, and the tracking number doesn't exist. On eBay it says this:
Does this mean I'm getting screwed?

Enter the tracking number at the carrier's web site (such as ups.com or usps.com).
Under eBay's buyer protection policy (which they call the Money Back Guarantee) you can get a full refund if the seller doesn't provide a tracking number that gets a "Delivered" scan.

No. There's no advantage to him in giving you a fake tracking number. You simply file an Item Not Received dispute after the last Estimated Date of Delivery, and if he can't come up with a real tracking number showing a Delivered status to your City and ZIP, you get a full refund.
It may be that if you're copying-and-pasting the tracking number, it's bringing along some stray invisible coding within the text (and/or stray space characters on either end) that render it unreadable as a valid number. I would suggest pasting it in on the carrier's website instead (i.e. not eBay, but USPS, UPS, FedEx or whomever), and if that doesn't work, try typing it in carefully by hand. See if that works any better.

If the seller provided you with tracking Saturday afternoon, it is possible the package has yet to be scanned by the USPS. Most post offices are closed Saturday night and Sunday.
Be patient.
Check tracking tomorrow.
If I ship pkg this afternoon, pkg may not show scan until very late tonight.
