I ordered something from a seller, and when I received notification of shipment and went to check the website, it said that there was no tracking information or a delivery estimate available, and the shipping service used was listed as “Flat Rate Freight”.
I thought I’d come here to clarify things before I went to the seller with questions, in case “flat rate freight” is something obvious and I don’t need to be concerned. What information I’ve found implies that the service is used for large or bulky things that would be inconvenient to ship normally (automobiles are mentioned a lot, for example), which strikes me as a little odd, since I only ordered a game controller for my Nintendo Switch.

Flat rate shipping is when a single rate is charged for shipping a package, regardless of weight or size. ... It simplifies shipping - one price pays for a decent amount of weight to any destination. It can be used as a marketing tool to encourage buyers to spend more.

Flat rate is the same shipping cost to all buyers.
