USPS shipping issues (Awaiting Delivery Scan)

I shipped an item out on July 24th, 2021. The shipping process was going fine until the end. I saw on eBay that the item was out for delivery, so obviously I would be excited because it’s one of my first sales, and I was about to get paid. However, the delivery status updated and it said that usps was “awaiting delivery scan” and it was marked as an “alert”. (Screenshot attached) Does this mean that I won’t get paid? I contacted  my local USPS and they said it would be delivered but I still haven’t gotten an update. What happens next?

I hope when you say  "you'll get paid" that this Buyer already paid you before you shipped their item.

If you sent this item via Media Mail, the post office can open and inspect the package. 

I would go on the USPS website and request email updates. The updates should start arriving within

minutes of your request.

I’ve been getting updates but the status hasn’t been updated since yesterday. The buyer has already paid but since I am not an established seller, the payment is on hold until the item is delivered, which it seems like it won’t.

I would give it a bit more time to update. The next step would be to file a "Missing Mail" request.

If you go on USPS.com and click on Help, in the drop-down box it will say something like

"where's my mail". To file a Missing Mail request, they will need much more detailed info about the package. Once you submit those details, someone from the post office is required to respond to you. When I have

filed Missing Mail requests, the package suddenly is delivered!

Give it another day to get delivered. Once a package is scanned as Out for Delivery, the carrier has 14 hours to get it delivered (i.e. actually scanning it as Delivered when he drops it on the porch) before that alert status is set. That triggers alarm bells at the post office and the carrier has to account for the package status: whether it was delivered or is still in the truck.

The package supervisor at usps said that she doesn’t recall seeing the package, and she said she would have her delivery guy knock on the door of the address listed on the label to see if it was accidentally misplaced or something. I already contacted the buyer and she said that she didn’t receive the package, but she could be lying to claim an INR. The post office said they would open a search case if they don’t find the package today.

Can I even file a missing mail request on Media Mail? I tried, but it doesn’t seem like it has insurance.
