USPS not recognized tracking #

A seller put a tracking # starting with UEXXXXXXXXXDE and USPS does not recognize it (although ebay is constantly getting some update to put on the shipment).

History so far: 10/1 it says tracking # provided, then radio silent for 7d and just yest says Origin Post preparing shipment (twice, am/pm).

What gives? This a bogus tracking #? I've dealt with vendors that plug random ones in there for first class but never saw this kind.

Where is your seller located?

What is the estimated delivery date?

The business listed Germany, est date 10/8 arrival. I guess I could give it another 1-2d for shipment. I contacted them about this tracking # but did not get a response.

Is there an offsite link to the tracking number like there is for usps & others?

If so, what website does it go to and what does it say?

If not, sounds like they made up the number like you said about first class.

I have received tracking numbers like that from a lot from European and UK sellers. It is an economy tracking barcode that usually doesn't start tracking until it gets to the USA. Sometimes it tracks sometimes it doesn't. Usually when it is delivered the buyer has to sign for it. It is sort of like USPS registered mail.

Track on ship24.com & that other service @wastingtime101 recommended (both appear to search similar carriers...) but nothin turned up

@steady2304

A bit reassuring. Guess will have to wait and sign for it or just wait til it gets to the Post Office to pickup.

The last 2 characters, DE, mean that it is coming from Deutschland (Germany).

The first character, U* (followed by any letter), means that it is letter post (as opposed to parcel post) which is not tracked, registered or insured (or a few other things that get their own prefix code).

If you have USPS Informed Delivery, it should show up in your online account with your other letter mail on the day of delivery, or the day before.

Hmm thanks for that format info, first time seein that (as I typically order domestically). That delivery manager looks help, may sign-up (since it's free) 👍🏻
