Its really going to happen ebay sellers. I saw the written card at my post office yesterday. Any packages over 22" will have a flat 4.00 extra charge. Over 30" will have a 15.00 extra charge. Also a 15.00 charge for a square footage i cant remember the details. I have never seen so many price increases in the last 5 years from them and now this is just rediculous. I will be using UPS and Fed Ex a lot more than in the past. BTW they were talking about this last December. Nothing to do with the gas prices being so high. Also the new fleet will be getting 8mpg. Bad decisions across the board for USPS. a tiny % electric or hybrid 😞
I hope ebay can help mitigate some of this crazy cost for sellers.

AS I said their not adapting to the new norm, letter mail is dead, they just passed the new retirement plan that will save them a few billions but small packages aren't gonna pay the bills, Dejoy is one more step closer to wiping out the USPS.

@tsme35 wrote:OH I know, been dealing with USPS 6-10% price increase yearly, now twice a year price increase. This is not just a price increase, this is the USPS way of not shipping large packages. The carriers aren't getting a pay raise or mileage fee increase out of the surcharge.
I did work for the PO 15+ years ago and know the deal but being a single dad of 4 kids and no support, just couldn't go years without insurance before I got my own route, not to mention I spend half my check fixing my jeep.
My mail lady went to the classes to drive the new vans that came out, suppose to replace rural vehicles but they only got 2 vans, the rest are waiting on chips. The 2 vans they did get, after 6 months looks like they went to a demo derby, trashed and beat up. She had to replace a transmission this last year, goes thru brake pads every 3 months and heat/cooling problems. The stop and go will tear up any vehicle.
The thing the USPS is doing wrong is their not adapting to the new age, internet sales and packages is the new norm. I mean know I have to adapt because I'm losing have my inventory, just like I had to with small fishing lures, single ones don't sell with the high shipping so now have to either not list or wait until I get a couple to put together.
Yes the caravans that they rolled out were trash. the new ones are from Mercedes, we have had one for the past year and it seems to be doing OK, but it is on a city route. It's pretty but I know it doesn't have the ground clearance for my route.
I know what you mean. I was a sub for 13 years, I lost my husband in 2004 and was lucky that I got survivers benefits for my 2 girls. I got them too but it was subject to being taken back if I worked too much. Every year I had to pay back $1 for every $2 I worked over that limit. I also didn't qualify for Medicaid, the girls did but the first year I made $60 over the annual max to qualify. If I was to buy USPS insurance it would have cost more than I made unless I worked sick days or vacation days. There wasn't anything in the area I could work that would have cost me more in child care than I cleared working part-time. at the Post Office and nothing that offered insurance It was best to just stay put. That's when I started with eBay, I would search garage sales for books and LP's and list them. Back then you could pick up books for 10 cents and boxes of records for a couple bucks.
I still deal in records but out of a B&M now. Last week I picked up 8 lots that I am currently procrastinating on sorting, cleaning, grading and pricing. They had around 20 boxes of NIB fishing lures in the auction last week but I didn't want to start another booth space so I passed them up. I frankly don't ship too much anymore. The shop owner does FB live walk throughs weekly and the last shipping I did was my whole stock of audiobooks on CD (like 70 some of them). If I ever manage to retire I will probably return to on-line sales.

I just called UPS, their out, they actually charge to pick up packages from my business plus shipping. Depending on the amount of shipping, its $20 to $36 PER week, not viable or affordable. My packages are too long for a drop off, have to go to UPS store which is 15 miles away. Not to mention their adding a 15%+ fuel charge come April 11.

I spent WAY too much time trying to figure the best way to send 3 28" Monster High dolls. Singly with a $4 surcharge, or 2 sitting whilst 1 practices yoga in a box where they charge DIM. 3 in one 18x14x9 box was cheaper than 3 singles in 30x6x6 boxes. Even with the $4 surcharge, USPS was only $1 more than UPS....unless UPS would have back billed. I should have listed them pick up only on FB MP or CL.

SO, ebay takes their cut from total paid amount. Are they going to take a percentage of a USPS surcharge also?

The postal unions provide their clerks and carriers with huge bonuses. They are the most pampered and privileged. employees in the world with huge Christmas bonuses and multiple free paid vacations every year. The original purpose of the post office was to help the American citizens mail letters and packages and not to take advantage of them.

Most likely, their not going to pass on a extra $1.60 fee but was mention they are NOT going to give a discount on the $15 surcharge when you use ebay labels like on the shipping.

Thanks very much for the info on the large flat rate game boxes! Yep can't get anymore now and will hold on to what I have for those extra long items. Right now they will ship at the same cost as the other LFRB but USPS will probably raise the cost on those too eventually. Thanks again for the info!

Let me throw this out there ... with Amazon continuing to increase its delivery and transportation fleet is there a chance they may supplant some of the other carriers by offering lower cost shipping then USPS, UPS, FedEx?
We are in a rural area but near a small town and we see their trucks & vans on our roads everyday and several times a day ... I can't remember the last time I saw a relatively new USPS Delivery truck yet I see NEW Prime vans all the time ...

My mail lady is getting ready to go take a class for the new "duck bill vehicles" here soon, I think she said maybe end of the year or early next year.
I don't think amazon would offer a delivery service unless sold thru them and doubt if would be cheaper then the other services

I have been delivering mail since 2000 and I am a Union member. This is total **bleep**. I have never gotten even a little bonus. I do however earn vacation and sick days. I have a good amount of sick days built up, or I did until I had to quarantine with covid. Vacation days I use when my Jeep breaks down (It right now is just a thousand and some miles under 300,000). The only extended vacation time I have used is when my in-laws passed (FIL in Feb 2021 and MIL in Oct 2021) I took my 3 bereavement days and a weeks vacation when he passed, and 3 bereavement days and 2 weeks vacation and a week leave without pay with my MIL to ready their house for sale. Since then I have earned back 6 days of available vacation time which I will have to hoard because of the age of my Jeep I really can't squander those on anything actually fun.
