USPS Worker Stole Package

Hey all,

Recently I shipped out a pair of shoes (Adidas Yeezys, a very expensive pair of shoes) to a buyer in New York. I believe that the postal carrier has stolen my package, quite possibly due to the fact that when I taped my box shut, the flaps were not flush and I used clear tape so you could probably see the logo of the box inside.

The buyer’s package was out for delivery on January 11, 2019 and was then also REFUSED on January 11, 2019. The thing is, I have been in contact with the buyer and he did not refuse the package and still wants it, the package had never even made contact with his house. The shipping said the package was to be returned to me, but after a week it never arrived, no update, nothing. On January 15 I call to open a case on this item and I was supposed to receive a call, to resolve the case, by the end of the day on January 18, never received a call. The buyer even scheduled a re-delivery that was supposed to arrive by the end of the day on January 18, according to the tracking info, never arrived. At this point I can not get in contact with USPS as it’s Sunday and I honestly believe the postal worker stole my package. I am beyond enraged at this.

Maybe you can ask your buyer to go into his/her local post office and complain.

Something similar had happened to me as a buyer.  I had a package coming to me,  tracking shows that there is no access to a delivery location (which was false), then the next day, the tracking shows that delivery was attempted again and customer asked package been held at post office (false again!  If I was able to tell the postal worker to hold it at the post office, why can't I just accept it?) On the 3rd day, it showed the package was delivered (false again for the third time).  Each time, I went into the post office to complain and I was not allowed to speak to the postmaster.  I even opened a case through their 1-800 number and no one contacted me from the post office.  I finally made enough noise, that USPS finally delivered the package to me.  I was lucky that I did not loose my money as well as no item to show for it.

Good luck on your situation.  Hope you get a happy ending 🙂

call the delivering post office and speak to the postmaster or a supervisor... get names just in case you have to get the postal inspectors involved...

sounds like that postmaster doesn't have control of their office... that's absolutely wrong...

another thought... if that's not the postmaster's policy, they'd probably like to know it's happening...

if it IS the postmaster's policy, their supervisor might like to know about it...

I hope this is a lesson learned, but it might be a really expensive one. If you knew there was a chance the label was visible why didn’t you spend an extra minute to retape the package? I hope you get this resolved and it was just an error and no theft occurred.

Hope you can get it resolved.

Ebay really is a small world ... you live in Oxford and I live in Roxboro. LOL

Re: USPS Worker Stole Package

You don't really know if the USPS worker stole anything so your subject title is a bit misleading.

Perhaps the carrier delivered it to the wrong address and someone at that place refused it. If something like that were to happen, the carrier would have to return it to the post office. Maybe it got lost somewhere along the way.

I would keep calling until somebody gave me an answer that makes sense .

The insurance should cover it. Don't sweat it.

Re: USPS Worker Stole Package

I had usps deny my $1200 claim for a second time citing the item was delivered and they don’t pay claims on delivered items. Yep, I sent a jacket to Texas and it was delivered to South Carolina. Having insurance didn’t help one bit. USPS is a joke.

Find that hard to believe. Who signed for it in SC? If the delivered address didn't match the delivery address zip code, something is wrong if the claim got denied.

Yup, hard to believe. All that was needed would be the mapspot of the delivery scan.  It will show within 5 feet of where the package was scanned.

Re: USPS Worker Stole Package

First, you must be clear that it is not stolen by USPS Postal Employee. It can be stolen by neighborhood or other just some bypasser. Second, you need to file report at USPS online or local. You can also check out this website which is helpful.

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/

This won't only help but investigation will be helpful.
