USPS MISSING packages

Attention Sellers..and buyers too,

Am I the only one with horrible luck! I'm about to find out if I'm on my 4th package lost in the mail through USPS. It is definitely haunting and I don't feel confident in purchases anymore.  One was delivered but NEVER received to a PO BOX. So, I have NO idea what happened there!##%$@!

What would you recommend? This can also affect sellers . Luckily, none of my purchases are high end. A package of jewelry I ordered looks like it sat at the same PO and was never sent out (according to one tracking).  And the current one I'm checking in on looks to be the SAME!

DO I need to add insurance for ALL my items now,?

Re: USPS MISSING packages

4 different sellers?

4 packages lost?

4 packages shipped with USPS?

4 packages I'm asking my local Postmaster,  "What seems to be the problem?"

This seems to be a USPS issue rather than an eBay issue.

Also,  If the 2 items with tracking numbers never get scanned,   The ebay Money back guarantee gives you

100% protection against loss.

Re: USPS MISSING packages

Adding insurance is a very good idea. eBay wouldn't back Sellers if item is lost or stolen in shipping process. How ever, Buyers are covered under Money Back Guarantee

I am adding insurance to all my packages. Once eBay software detects the package is insured, it eases up and allows extended waiting time. If you're using USPS, you should know, USPS deems a Package Lost, if package is in mail system for 30 days  and there are no tracking updates for 7 days or more

Packages just sit there for 7 days for no reason. It's a horrible situation. It got bad right after January 10th

If a package was delivered to a P O Box and not received, it's because Buyer never picked it up. Check with 'Will Call' counter of your P O Box location. Sometimes there are no notes left in the box for pick up. Show them the tracking records. If your package returns to Seller, according to eBay Money Back Garrantee, coverage will flunk. Then, you may lose money and merchandise

Re: USPS MISSING packages

Yup, that's correct.  Given, this is within about little over a year.  And I wasn't blaming eBay.  I was wondering if this is happening to any other sellers WITH USPS, as well as cautioning them that this COULD happen since USPS has already been having other issues within its system.

Yes, 2 tracking sitting at original location, one delivered to wrong POBOX, 4th possibly NEVER even sent out,, but I'm giving that seller BOD thru another auction site and blaming USPS.

Yes, but it isn't a new problem for me. I currently have 56 packages stuck in Memphis, some since before Christmas. And 21 INR's opened in the last 30 days.

Just try to remember that it isn't your fault (as long as you shipped on time), don't let buyers scream at you for something outside of your control, don't refund the customer unless they open an INR, and, if you do get INR's opened, see the below post for more details on how INR's are currently being handled by eBay.

Re: USPS MISSING packages

Oh thanks, but I'm posting as a buyer.😔 However, never mad at the seller. I know it's USPS and so sad because this has NEVER happened so much in my entire life. Sad for USPS. It just makes me crazy because I don't want my money back as much as I want the actual item!😬😁

If I'm reading your post right, you are the buyer, not the seller, so no, you do not need to add insurance to purchases, as it is not your responsibility as a buyer. The seller is expected to deliver the item to you in the condition in which it was sold, and if it disappears along the way and doesn't show up by the last estimated day of delivery to you, you can file the Item Not Received claim. (Having said that, you should probably give the seller a break and maybe wait a week or two more before demanding a refund.)

If the seller's package is insured (and that includes an automatic $50 or $100 indemnity on Priority Mail shipments), then the seller can file for a lost mail refund from USPS. That's a lot easier to prove than a damage claim: if the tracking stops somewhere after Acceptance and before Delivery for a long enough period of time, USPS will pay off for the sale price (or insured limit, whichever is lower), plus the original postage. In my (fortunately rare) experience with a lost mail claim, I received a check in the mail within days of filing my on-line claim.

Yes...it's happening, like it did in 2020.  See my post about insurance.... wish I had better news.

Re: USPS MISSING packages

Yes honestly. It was a direct send to a friend. Who knows what's going on over at USPS BTS.  Probably overwhelmed not treated with respect, and they're taking it out on our mail...🤷‍♀️😔
