I hope all sellers had the same experience that i had this Holiday season, All my orders were delivered on time by USPS, Only one minor snag from a customer who over reacted prematurely & got upset about her item not arriving, when it was only 5 days after being shipped & then arrived 2 days after that, So all went well!

USPS did a terrific job for me as they usually do with the volume of packages they have to deal with.

Good for you! Nice to know there are no late deliveries for you.
I have 2 packages shipped Friday, Dec 13 that still have not been delivered. Although 1 has been traveling around Texas (where the buyer lives) since Dec 16. The other one is updating daily since Dec 15, sometimes more than once, stating it's leaving Detroit but never gets anywhere.
Friday the 13 shipping, go figure

I had one package I sent to California and it took a long route there by way of Puerto Rico (who knows why) but still got back in about a week so all was good. All other packages arrived as they should have.

That has always* been my experience with USPS.
The rush must be over, a GA package that I handed over to USPS on Tuesday afternoon was just delivered (500 miles away) 15 minutes ago.
* Not counting the Covid chaos of Christmas 2020.

I just got my first negative for a package not arriving by Christmas. I cut off sales on the 15th hoping everything would get delivered. Out of 38 sales only 2 have not arrived. One was mailed GA on the 8th, the other mailed GA on the 10th. Last updated tracking was 12/14 on one, 12/23 on the other. So, will eBay take away the negative feedback ya think? Should I ask the buyer for a revision?

They might, but first taking care of the customer is the most important.
Has the buyer filed an INR yet?
Enter your tracking number into the INR.
Even if there is not an INR filed, go to USPS website and review the detail tracking info.
On this tracking screen there is a place to file for email updates as there is movement on the tracking. Sign up for that so you get informed right away when something gets entered to the tracking.
Go and file for a TRACE, I don't recommend filing for Missing Mail just yet. The two are completely different actions. The Trace usually gets the job done quicker.
https://usps.my.site.com/emailus/s/package-inquiry
Contact your buyer. Keep all contact inside the INR filed so everything is recorded on the claim. Let your buyer know you are working with USPS to get their package delivered. Apologize for the delay. And let them know you filed a trace which takes between 48-72 hours for USPS to respond. As you get any information you will update the buyer right away. Assure your buyer that you are working this problem and will continue to do so until a proper resolution.
If there is movement on the tracking within the last 7 days, Ebay will keep the INR open. Do not voluntarily issue the refund yet. It is highly likely the package is going to get delivered, it is just late. Annoying for the buyer for sure. Just stay in touch with them and assure them you are working on a resolution.

Thank you for all this detailed advice. Both packages had tracking, I responded politely to the negative feedback, I signed up for tracking notifications a few days ago. Both items are small packages so may have gotten lost in a corner somewhere. Neither buyer has filed INR yet, and I have not offered anything yet in way of compensation. I’ll follow your advice and request traces on them. Then I’ll message both buyers. Thanks again.

USPS did a fine job as always. I had no major issues.
The only very lengthy delay was a non-USPS fault issue.
A lot of this is the luck of the draw, time & place. Some hubs were more congested than others.
I had one package all set for delivery on a specified day that spent 5 days going back and forth between the destination city facility and the adjacent city facility. This occurred in a State with a known congested hub/s.
The package arrived fine but was "unnecessarily" delayed an extra 5 days or so. Not a big deal.
Adding to what kath.layn was saying re: smalls. When I have a package with a very small footprint & I anticipate heavy volume, I generally put that well packed boxed "small" into a large bubble mailer to expand the footprint and help prevent it from getting lost or misplaced.
I can't say this extra precaution has ever helped, but I figure it's like chicken soup 😉

I closed the barn doors early. Not Christmasy stuff, but no need to have my sales cluttering up the mail trucks.

had no problems......

I had one get lost but USPS refunded quick, filed claim, approved and got a check within 6 days. But on a side note, my sales are down 50% from last year.

Sorry to hear that, It can't hurt to ask the buyer for a revision, it's worth a shot.

The one you received a negative feedback for should have been shipped Priority, as you posted on your listing it would. I can see the buyer being upset at using a slower service.
I would not have used a padded envelope for the silverware.
