USPS Delays

Okay, I sold an  item, media mail. I brought item to PO next day. Tracking uploaded. According to tracking info, processed in St. Louis last entry. Estimated delivery June 7th,  NJ bound package. Here we are on June 15th, still hasn't arrived. Why is it taking so long? Media mail usually takes about 5 days normally.  Are there delays in NJ? Has it been lost en route. I have sent an email to buyer apologizing for the delay. I feel powerless here.

Thanks

Re: USPS Delays

Media mail is up to 2-8 business days (which could be 12 calendar days if mailed on a Friday); not to mention there are sometimes delays even with Priority and First Class where things can get 'stuck' for up to 3 weeks.

Media Mail is NON priority so gets thrown in a pile and only if there is room on the truck/plane, does it get a seat.

Re: USPS Delays

Am sure you know that media mail is the cheapest, and therefore the slowest, shipping method of the USPS.  Combine that with the current well-known delivery delays, and there you have it.

Re: USPS Delays

Is it the magazines that don't qualify for Media Mail?

Have a great day.

Re: USPS Delays

USPS 2022 is not what it used to be that's for sure. Start a "missing mail" search with USPS. Regular delays and lost packages are better than last year, but could still be better. I have had some packages show up a month or more late.

I shipped a package on 5-31 and today on 6-15 tracking shows it has only gone a few miles. I put in a missing mail request but no luck so far. I will probably have to reship to make my customer happy. And pay another postage to the USPS, which is so unfair since they probably lost it!

But it is what it is. I guess that if I had a brick and mortar store I would loose a lot more inventory.

Good luck.
