USPS Back to Normal?

For those that suspended selling until shipment issues were cleared up, I'm happy to report that, at least for me, things are seemingly back to normal.  For the first time in several weeks, I'm down to ZERO in-limbo or significantly late shipments.  In fact, I have no outstanding items shipped before Jan 11.  Not everything is lightning fast, but everything is moving fairly well.

One caveat - I don't do much shipping via media mail.  I still send out some items MM - but I've (mostly) switched to first class or priority, only using MM for items that have a margin significantly impacted by using FC or Priority.

Of course, I'm not telling anyone to list.  Everyone has their own comfort level/risk tolerance/margin pressures.  For me, it makes sense to ship/take the risk of refunds from late shipments.

Also, don't think that I didn't refund any shipments.  I had to refund four shipments from early Dec to early Jan.

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

This is not accurate. Priority mail has been the worst. The larger the package the longer it takes. Its not 2-3 days by any means. More like 2-4 weeks or more.

It is better now. About 5-10 days  priority delivery now. 1st class was not great either but was better than priority although I had 1 package take over 5 weeks. Media mail has been great for me. Awesome in fact. Few days delivery all over US. There all kinds of factors regarding delays. I just keep shipping and use fedex ground / home delivery as needed.

I have one slowly making its way through Russia, but besides that my last one finally showed up - over a month for first class from NY to MO.

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

I sent a Santa figure to MI that was near end of Dec. It will be Spring before Santa gets delivered at this rate lol Many customers are aware and being patient. I finally received several that were ordered by me from early Dec. Still many in Warrendale but at least some have gotten thru that area now

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

I had a case opened recently over an item in limbo from early Dec (4th) Customer was getting quite upset. First I requested tracking updates so I could keep on top of it but after she opened a case I actually filed for a missing mail (1st class item) and sure enough as stated above....2-3 days later it gets found and delivered. Case closed. Never had to do that b4 but if that helps get them where they need to be....

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

Reading elsewhere that USPS estimates it will not be caught up until mid March.  A lot of their distribution centers are in that bad of shape.

I tend to think it might be longer than that....

Back to normal since I started using Fedex this month. Very pleased with service. I'm glad their 2-day rates are competitively priced with priority so I no longer have to do a hail mary every time I drop off a usps package.

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

Not even close. I'm still waiting on stuff from the first week of Jan and I am routinely seeing 5-12 days for Priority.

Re: USPS Back to Normal?

I have had to apologize for delays for my last three packages. One refund.

I had to contact USPS to find a package that had been sitting in one spot for two weeks and to my amazement it was found within hours and delivered across the state the next day! My suggestion is for all sellers with items sitting idle for an excessive period to do the same.

Now I too have stopped posting new items for sale.

Sad...
