UPS Claims

Hello Friends,

I had two packages lost by UPS. I issued full refunds to my buyers and filed claims with UPS, but the process was very frustrating. First, I encountered a robot that wouldn’t connect me to a human without answering multiple questions, which felt like a complete waste of time. Then, I was transferred to an offshore call center with a language barrier, requiring me to rephrase my statements several times to ensure my point was understood. Finally, I reached the claims department, where there was another language barrier. Each time, I had to repeat my UPS tracking ID to the robot, the customer service agent, and the claims agent.

I'll get off my soapbox now. Today, I received an email informing me that UPS sent the claim to eBay and provided the recipient's name and address.

Question: Does eBay apply the claim to my account, or do they keep it?

eBay is the UPS account holder so UPS gets information from eBay.

IF you get a refund it will be from UPS.

This is what I got from a UPS email:

It was paid on 11/06/24 and sent to 

EBAY INC

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

You used the wrong process for filing the claim @etsvcs . Next time go to the eBay help pages and type in UPS insurance and the article with instructions will pop right up.

The process for filing claims on UPS labels purchased through eBay is specific. Follow the instructions here:

At this point the check went to eBay so you have to wait for eBay to return it to UPS, then for UPS to send a new payment to you. I'm honestly not sure if this is still how it works when the seller incorrectly files, but this is what other sellers have reported in the past.

Come back to let us know what happens @etsvcs . If memory serves, the last seller that reported a check going to eBay said they eventually got their payment a month or two later?

I definitely will. I feel this process will take much longer than expected—it’s already taken about a month to get this far. Now, I have to wait for eBay to send the check back to UPS so that UPS can forward it to me. Sounds like another nightmare waiting to happen.
