Tracking, in transit, delivery

I bought and paid for 2 items on ebay.  Tracking 3 days later shows items were shipped. But, "in transit" is not specified. I find later that items are not moving but sitting in a postoffice receiving station.

Does this mean I will never receive the items I have paid for?  I am told I cannot cancel the orders because  they were shipped, even though they were not.

Why would anyone buy from ebay under these conditions?

Stop looking at the tracking. The only tracking detail that matters is DELIVERED.  If you don't receive it a few days after it's due then you'll be able to get a refund. Come back if that happens.

What happened to you sounds similar to what happened to me, though in my instance the parcel seemed to reach my local distribution center, then leave to another state entirely (I'm in the United States).

I don't know how long you've been waiting, but I'd give it somewhere in the ballpark of three or four weeks then I'd start contacting the seller, and if you're not satisfied by their answer, then eBay.

Re: Tracking, in transit, delivery

This happened A LOT during the holiday season 2020.  We are in Arizona and EVERYTHING that we mail from our small town in Northern Arizona goes to Phoenix. Last year in December the Phoenix hub had over 20 trailers full of unsorted packages and "priority mail" sitting in their parking lot. I got complaints from lots of customers but they all eventually got their packages - sometimes it took 2 - 3 weeks for a package to go to New Mexico! The scan usually showed that it left my home Post Office but then nothing. Customers kept saying it meant the item was lost.

The Post Office has already announced that not only did the rates go up ("temporarily") but to expect delays in delivery.  My advice is buckle up - it's going to be a bumpy holiday season.  We have started shipping almost everything FedEx or UPS - which we did last year with much more success.

Re: Tracking, in transit, delivery

That's the thing though:  What you seem to accept as typical for your region of the country may not be somewhere else.

For instance, it's very atypical for me (in the eastern part of the country).

Usually I have no problems receiving things in a timely fashion from places as far away as the West Coast.

The current situation with the USPS throws an added level of complexity into things, but my rule of thumb is  – for anything shipped from one point to another in this country – you should not be waiting close to a month to receive it (which happened in my case) unless we're talking about some very special circumstances, which it would be incumbent upon the shipper to be aware of.
