TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH SHIPPING LABELS

Lately, about the past 30 days,  there is a technical problem with the shipping labels that's costing me A LOT OF MONEY in ink & time! The labels & sometimes just the bar codes are printing out HUGE. It is not just because my settings are off because this has never happened before & my labels on Etsy print just fine. I should not have to mess with settings EVERY TIME I print labels. But on Ebay something has changed recently. I have had to reprint 90% of my labels & hope they are correct. I have to change size & "fit to page" settings then change them back in order to get it to print the correct size. Sometimes all is perfect except just the barcode is GIANT. They can't scan that. So I have been sent home with my box un-scanned. This is wasting time & money for me. Anyone else having this problem & or anyone know why & how to fix it?

I have also experienced this problem recently. If the postal clerk has time to type in the numbers (most of whom do not hve the time), the label will register; otherwise, the labels being currently produced with eBay labels first class  will not scan at the USPS counter, Something has changed with the label markings. What's up?

TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH SHIPPING LABELS

Hello,

Did you find out what the problem was with the bar codes printing out huge on your shipping labels?  I am having the same issue, just out of nowhere...

TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH SHIPPING LABELS

First reset your ebay label format.  On the create label page look to the right and click on Show More, then scroll down to the label format and click Change.

Make sure you browser is set to open PDF files with Adobe and not its built in reader.

If still a problem come back with OS, browser, and printer model you are using.

TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH SHIPPING LABELS

UPDATE: I have had to go to the top of my page - EVERY STINKIN TIME - and make sure it is sets at 100%. It seems someone (one of Ebays programmers ?) has it set at a default for 500% or more. This was never an issue before. I have no problems with other labels on other platforms just here. I have tried everything but nothing works. So I have to waste time always changing my labels to 100% before every printing. I have yet to get anyone who knows why.

TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITH SHIPPING LABELS

This is not an ebay problem, it is your local settings.

Reread my previous post.  Is your browser set to Adobe?

What OS, browser, and printer model are you using?

Post a screenshot of the problem or of the entire label preview page.

Go to PirateShip and setup a free account (i.e., no monthly fee). Add your eBay account so you can import eBay orders.

Add a method to pay for labels. I suggest using a credit card with a rewards system so you get part of the cost of the label back as rebate from the credit card (typically 1%, 1.5%, 2%).

Go to Settings > General Settings

Set the Label Size to 4" x 6"

Set the Label Filetype to PDF

Packing Lists and Gift Messages to Disabled

This will create a 4" x 6" PDF document with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (1200 x 1800) and you can download to your computer. In my case when I download a label to the computer from Safari it will automatically be opened by Preview on my Apple computer and I can immediately print it. I also have the option of printing multiple labels at once - I simply select them on and alter the print dialog window to print two per 8.5" x 11" sheet.

Because you have 300 pixels per inch to work with you can increase the printed size of the label a bit above 4" x 6" while still maintaining a crisp output suitable for scanning. For a full 8.5" x 11" sheet I change the print dialog window's layout setting to 2 pages per sheet. As I have Scale to Fit selected they are printed at 178% of the original 4" x 6" label using a monotone laser printer. If I am running a batch of tablet paper through the laser printer for labels I'll just print one label per sheet and select a different paper size.

Now if I would keep increasing the size of label it would eventually look blurry / pixelated. That is when you start to run into problems of a scanner being able to read the bar codes.

I would not use a bubblejet to print labels - they ink will cost you a lot money.

I am still using a monotone laser printer form 2001 and print all labels on paper, which are then taped in placed. I've replaced the drum one time as that was last year as I accidentally snapped off a small part. The high capacity toner cartridges are replaced every few years. The paper is left over from various larger lots of items purchased at auctions. Labels are cut out with a long pair of wallpaper scissors.

You can also go with a thermal printer but then you can't print other documents. It will require special label paper. The labels may fade over time without proper UB protection. The labels may not have the best adhesive and could peal off. Be sure to test some sample labels to see how well they stick on various surfaces.

Another ebay Un-Fixed, Un-Resolved Technical Issue..............................................................

I purchase & print the shipping label as ebay states according to correct Dimensions and Weight.

I believe ebay should REFUND me for their Technical Issue. (What's Fair is Fair)

ebay & UPS make it sound like that I made the Mistake/Problem * NOT ebay..... NOR UPS.....
