Stating shipped when not

Why in the world does ebay mark items as shipped when only a label has been created. Multiple times i have purchased items that they print the label then wait up to 5 days to take to the post office. Im sorry but if you state it will ship within 24 hours. That does not mean the label will be printed within 24 hours. It means the item will be in the possesion of the carrier. Not sitting on a shelf until they are ready to drive to the post office

1.) The post office many times does NOT scan the item as 'in their possession' until 1 day, 2 days after they've received it and sometimes the 3rd stop along the way 5 days AFTER they've received it. Sometimes there is no tracking updated until the day it is delivered 3,5, 9 days later.

2.) Once a seller has created a label; that means it has been paid for  by that seller, and therefore that IS the start of the shipping process. 

Therefore 'Shipped' does NOT have to mean, nor does it necessarily mean 'in the hands of the carrier'. 

Lastly; USPS picks up so there is no need for anyone to go to the post office. I print a label on Tuesday, ready for a Weds pickup. Carrier picks up and doesn't get back to PO until 6pm, at which time the package does not get accepted until Thursday at best.

eBay tells buyers "Your order is being shipped" ... rather than saying it's been shipped.  

eBay has no way of knowing for sure exactly when an item has been shipped ... because postal workers often fail to scan packages 'Accepted'.

Many post offices refuse to accept packages after the date on the shipping label has passed ... so you're not going to find a lot of packages 'sitting on the shelf' with expired labels.

As a buyer, I've frequently seen tracking say ONLY 'A shipping label has been created' ... up until the time the package was delivered to me.  We have no way to know when the package has actually been posted ... so you are only guessing when you say, "Multiple times i have purchased items that they print the label then wait up to 5 days to take to the post office."

I am not guessing I watch for updates and when something says post office awaiting item and then three days later it says the item was received at the same location that they were waiting for the item is not a guess. You are probably one of the sellers who print out a label then wait a few days to take it to the post office. If not don't insult me by saying I am guessing. Especially when I messaged the seller and ask if it has been shipped yet and they refuse to answer.

@acha9706   I use the Comments link on the Label Flow and complain about that ... use the Comments link anywhere in Seller hub and complain about it ... on the label flow there is one of those "how do you like purchasing labels on eBay?" star things ... give it a bad review, pure and simple and if asked why tell them.

I also complain about the ship date ... when I change it to the correct one on one label the next label I have to update too ... well gee, you would THINK that at 10 PM at night they would have at least the next day as the ship date but they don't.

I've also complained and notified them about the dimensions on the label flow being backwards ...

I've also complained about them NOT having a simple way to combine shipping on items that have been separately paid for ... nope, its not easy and when you DO print the label if you want a receipt you have to print another separate page ... what a waste of paper ...

These issues have been brought up to eBay on more than one occasion but have NEVER been fixed ...

The only thing you should be 'watching' for is the estimated date of delivery. Tracking and delivery confirmation is for the sellers protection to prove shipment and delivery..not yours.I have had pkgs scanned when they reached the city of delivery..and not before.

Sellers have complained to Ebay ad nauseam about this. Years and years. They don't care.   All they need to do is change that template to "a shipping label has been created"  NOT "your item has shipped".

It irritates the crap out of me as a seller. As a buyer I don't care because I only look at the estimated delivery date, if that. I figure I'll get it when it gets here lol
