Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery available on eBay labels?

First, I'm really not interested in a debate on whether this is overkill or good policy, I just want to know whether I need to go to my USPS Click-and-Ship account to purchase the label rather than doing it on eBay.  The requirement was clearly disclosed on the auction, so this will not be a surprise to the buyer.

I just sold a fairly expensive item -- between $500 and $600, which I know is chump change for some of you, but is high for me -- and stated clearly in the listing that it would be sent Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation, with the signature of the actual purchaser required.  This service is called "Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery" (SCRD for short), and is available at the USPS window, and at the USPS website.

I don't, however, see that option on eBay as I go to print the label.  I see only "Signature Confirmation", which generally means anyone in the household.  I thought that I had seen it in the past when I had printed labels on eBay, but perhaps I'm mistaken.

Is SCRD not available via eBay labels, or do I have to go a bit farther before it asks me whether I want to limit who can sign for it?

If that is the option you want, and it is not on eBay, then I would use Click and Ship.  And maybe, maybe not.

What if the person you want works during every delivery?   Generally, a viewable signature is enough.  But then, this is eBay.

If you don't see it on the create label page, then only the indirect signature is available.  If you want to still get a discount and use SCRD, open a free Pirate Ship account.  They have all the options.

In hindsight, having read other threads about this, which morphed into debates about whether or not it's overkill (thus my request at the beginning), I would probably just go with Signature Confirmation.

However, I did disclose in the listing that it would require the signature of the actual buyer whose name is on the label, so I would imagine that if this were a deal-killer for them, they would have looked for the item elsewhere.  And I think for some buyers, it might even add a bit of reassurance that they know that *they* will receive the item that they purchased rather than another household member.

And heck, for all I know, the person, like so many people, is working remotely from home and able to answer the door easily.

Don't overlook the possibility that they never read that advisory at all, or didn't understand the difference.

I didn't word it in the USPS-ese name.  I explained it fairly clearly.

Don't overlook the possibility that it might be a gift for someone and they might be pleased that no one else in the household will be able to receive the item.

"Signature Confirmation" is an extra charge along with insurance down below as added option. Two boxes down below, after you mark and choose type of postage

Why don't you insure the package for few extra dollars? In that case, package needs to be signed for and contents are insured in case of wrongful delivery or damage

Lots of horror stories on packages being mishandled these days. I just sent out a package Priority Insured last week, it was torn and contents gone

Be careful, as you know, Package is your responsibility before it's delivered and signed by someone on the designated address

I did insure it as well, and I see that "Signature Confirmation" is an option.

But simple "Signature Confirmation" means that anyone who answers the door can sign for it.  I specifically want to make sure that the actual buyer has it in hand, which is "Signature Confirmation Restricted Delivery".

I really thought that somewhere in the past on an eBay label printing excursion I had seen a question about whether anyone could sign, or just specifically the designated addressee.  But I don't see that anywhere now.  Perhaps I saw it somewhere else (Paypal label printing, maybe?) and not on eBay.

I went ahead and used USPS Click-and-Ship and will upload the tracking as soon as I've brought it to the PO.

True but not anymore, as long as someone over age of 18 signs for it at door, you're all done

My stolen package was purchased with Click-and-Ship as well, reporting is going smooth so far

Any adult at that address can sign for a normal Signature Confirmation package, yes. With the Restricted Delivery option, you're imposing an additional requirement above and beyond what eBay requires at most, and spending a bit more than normal Signature Confirmation as well, with no real benefit to the buyer but a good chance of extra complication in receiving it, since (if the carrier is on the ball), he will have to be present to receive it, or arrange to go to the Post Office to collect it some other time.

Signature Confirmation is not required for sales below $750, but yes, it probably gives some extra peace of mind to either seller or buyer to know that it can't be left to porch thieves (even though you have Seller Protection against that once it is scanned as Delivered to the City and ZIP of the address received with the payment).

I see you've gone with Restricted Delivery now, according to your recent reply, so you might want to send your buyer a heads-up message in advance to ensure that he will be home when delivery is attempted. To avoid misunderstandings, be sure to explain that it must be him present, and not just anyone at that address. Good luck.
