Shipping round tubes

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I determine what the shipping will be for a 4x4x36 mailing tube through the new USPS Ground Advantage? I use eBay and not Pirate Ship btw. Also, I don't know who has the best price/quality on these tubes. Prices are all over the place and IDK how to determine quality. I have not used these tubes for shipping in the past but I have quite a few listings now that will require it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

USPS has a surcharge of $7 for packages that are over 30 inches long, which you'd have to add to the regular Ground Advantage rate that's based on weight and distance.  The eBay shipping calculator will show you a price which includes the surcharge:

I use these often, although shorter. The only competitive rates I can find these days are uline.com and zoro.com (the latter often provides coupons so sign up for their emails). Uline has a permanent special deal for 4"dia/36 inches tubes. But the shipping charge often makes it less competitive.

You should check out the USPS Priority "Dual Use Mailing Tube" that comes in 24" and 38" lengths. It is triangular in shape and used to send rolled up Architectural drawings and similar. The box is free and I usually pay $9-$15 to ship one Priority Mail. The free box makes it a super deal. You just have to order them online but they ship free to your address.

About 18$ at least. Shipped a 2 x 36 and it cost 18$, but have never shipped a 4 inch tube. If it is a more expensive item DO NOT use the triangle box USPS uses.  I receive quite a few maps in those and they are usually damaged on arrival.

Those "tubes" are subject to surcharges of $4 for length over 22 inches, and $15 for length over 30 inches.  If you use Ground Advantage, the surcharge for length over 30 inches is only $7.
