Hi everyone.
Im listing from South Africa selling on Ebay UK and using Fedex. The rates Im entering for shipping are being automatically adjusted up by a several GBP by Ebay. Im worried that that the higher rates are going to put off buyers.
All the details and my shipping policy appear to be correct. Is there a setting that is causing Ebay to re-adjust my shipping?.
Its also readjusting up my buy it now price ( in this case 124 GBP up to 145 or so).
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Nick

You're a private seller on eBay UK, so you don't have a UK VAT registration number (which business sellers are required to provide). So you can't include VAT in your buy-it-now or shipping prices.
Your items are also being imported into the UK when you deliver them there, so eBay is required to collect VAT on the sale including the purchase price and shipping costs, up to £130. In the UK and Europe, VAT is supposed to be included in the sale price that is shown, it is not added on at the checkout the way sales tax is shown in other countries.
So that's how the VAT is shown when the listing is viewed on eBay UK: eBay adds on the 20% UK VAT rate so that buyers can see the actual amount they have to pay for the BIN and the shipping. If you view the same listing on eBay.com, you can see the original amount exclusive of VAT.
