Is anyone having problems with shipping? I had the International Hub open my package and ship fragile items in envelopes that got crushed. Over $300 in sales. I didn’t have to refund thank God EBay covered it. I did put extra insurance on it but how do I put in a claim? USPS, EBay, Ship By? No one will give me an answer. I also had a comic book delivered with a nail hole put in it. How do I get EBay to cover the Ground Insurance? I put a stop to International and now thinking about not using USPS.

@mhk201 You cannot put in a claim. You aren't out anything. There is nothing for you to claim. The great thing about eIS is that once you mail it, as long as it is delivered to the international hub, you are no longer responsible. You are not responsible for how eBay repacks it, which is why they cover any claims made. Your extra insurance was for getting it to eIS. If it never made it to eIS and the carrier lost it, then you would be able to file a claim. It doesn't sound like that is what happened.
Was the comicbook international as well? If so, the same applies. eBay covers any claims. The buyer will need to open a return to eBay and state that it arrived damaged. That's what you tell your buyer. You are not responsible for refunding the buyer. If you have done that, you are out of luck unless your buyer wants to kindly repay you and then open the return with eBay. If the comic book was not shipped via eIS, then you file a claim with USPS. eBay has nothing to do with it.
I am unsure why you would stop eIS. I had stopped it for a while, but it was because I was running into issues with items being flagged by the EU and eBay would pull my whole listing. Now, I have blocked the EU, so certain items aren't displayed there and I turned eIS back on months ago. I don't get many international orders, but I love it when I do.
As far as no longer using USPS, that is going to hurt you worse than it helps you. Despite what some here will claim, all carriers break things sometimes. Sometimes we as sellers don't pack items well. Sometimes the carriers are careless. It will happen. Even if you are out money, you absorb the costs and claim the loss on your taxes. Your business is larger than one or two or 50 damaged items.

About comic book and hole in envelope:
Check in post office, but I'm pretty sure that books and comics need to be shipped with hole in envelope.
Reason? Shipping price for these things are lower and when you ship comicc book post carrier want hole on envelope to see content.
Crazy, but I have that experience.

Been shipping books at various times in 20 yrs on ebay and never heard that......media mail would indicate a book......and if a hole were required.....would be easy for PO to reject parcels that don't have holes. PO has the right to open the package to be sure media mail rules are followed.....and sometimes they do.......but a hole? I think not.

Not even slightly true. If they want to see the contents, they can open it, but there’s never a need to ship them with a hole in the envelope.

Nonsense.
I have tens of thousands of packages by media mail for 20+ years.

The insurance you purchased would have covered the package from you to the international shipping hub. Since it made it there without any issues, there is no valid insurance claim to be filed.

Erm, YOU didn't have to refund, you said ebay covered it.
So why do you think you're entitled to double dip and keep what the buyer paid you AND collect insurance?

The USPS can open "Media Mail" packages, but they have to open them properly, not just stab holes in the envelope or package. Comics from resellers are usually send Ground Advantage or Priority, they can't inspect those like they can with Media Mail. If a USPS employee is just stabbing holes in any packages or envelopes... they need some retraining, to put it nicely.
EIS repackages things sometimes. They repackaged a hardcover book and put it in an envelope, the binding was damaged. eBay reimbursed the buyer, and I kept the money. I still can't say I was happy, I package my books to withstand almost anything (I had someone tell me their book survived a literal hurricane after being left in their mailbox during an evacuation.) The buyer was completely chill about the whole thing, but it still made me look bad. Still, it only happened once, and EIS has otherwise been a wonderful experience, I wouldn't give up on it just yet.
The insurance you purchased was to insure the package from where you sent it to eBay's hub. After that, once the item arrives eBay fully "insures" the item/package on the way to the international buyer (you are insured by eBay letting you keep the money because it was damaged on the way to the buyer.)
