Shipping overcharge

I mailed an art print between two pieces of cardboard.  Cost should have been $27.54 for weigh 6# 9.7oz.  Ebay sent me a bill for $1303.54,  Can not get anyone to correct this.  They have suspended my account.

Shipping overcharge

Open an eBay page

Top left corner, click on 'help & contact'

Click on 'buying'

Bottom of the page, left side, Click on 'returns and refunds'

Click on top of the page 'return an item for a refund '

Go to bottom right of the page, in very small print click on ' have us call you '

You'll get a call in 2-9 minutes

Are you sure, you're reading it correctly? This is a huge mistake

That is insane.

@yevot88 : What were the dimensions of your package? Sounds like dimensional rates were billed on the package - but even if they were that final charge seems a little over the top.

Did you actually MAIL this through Usps or did you actually send it by Fedex or UPS?

My god, that's almost like a freight charge, You sure you didn't put down 600 ponds accidentally?

@yevot88

Have you contacted UPS to see why you were charged that much?

Have a great day.

The maximum USPS domestic online shipping charge is $420.35, for shipping 70 pounds to Zone 8 via Priority Express. So it must have been sent via UPS or FedEx.

The OP also posted in the Mentors area:

Interspersed with a typical threat to sue eBay and (in a post from 2020) threatening to leave eBay, there's a mention of shipping it via the UPS Dropoff Center.

To be fair, though, I can't imagine how the UPS center could have accepted it without making some comment to the customer about what the final charge would be. You'd think they would at least informally be able to spot a potential problem shipment on its way in the door.
