Shipping charges on multiple items

Been on here 18 years and never had this problem until recently. Buyer buys multiple lots but shipping calculator only charges for one lot. Talked to an agent and they didn’t have a clue.

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

What are the item numbers? (would have to look at them to see something)

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Just had the same thing happen with a sale this morning. Sold two of an item (both to the same buyer in the same transaction), eBay only calculated/added the shipping for one. I just ate the additional shipping charges because a) I figured I had done something incorrectly when setting the auction up, and b) regardless of the reason, it wasn't the buyer's fault. Sounds like there may be an issue on eBay's end at play here though, which makes feel just a bit better about my ability to not shoot myself in the financial foot! HA!

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Just shooting in the dark kere....but

when you have multiple items, you need to add the "additional items" charges when you setup shipping, even if it is the same amount. The calculator does not (to my knowledge) know your customer bought 2 of the same items, so it only shows the shipping for 1 IF you did not specify "each additional item" in the initial setup....

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

you got my curiousity peaked...

You need to go to this page

Manage shipping settings (ebay.com)

and set some rules for shipping....I apologize, but with the new listing tool I am not sure where it at if it's even there anymore....

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Is this across different listings or from the same listing?

Are you using Flat Rate or Calculated shipping?

If all from the same listing, did you go back and check you had both shipping cost fields filled in for first and additional items?

If from different listings and you have enabled Combined Payments, did you check that the Combined Shipping Rules were set properly and if needed enabled on each of the listings involved?

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

See, that’s what I’m talking about. For years it was automatic,  but they come up with new listing tools, Etc...and you have to go thru these changes to do the same thing. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it !

And for about a year now calling them has been a joke. 30 seconds into the conversation and you already know this isn’t going to end well. The time before I called the person had me logging off eBay and start on google to get to seller hub, when all you have to do is go to help type in seller hub and bam you’re there. I’m sorry, 18 years of dealing with idiots has done its toll on me

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Yes it is still happening. I sell multiple items and it only charges for one item. The only way to charge for multiple is if you pick one price then it gives you option to Charge for multiple items? Did you find a way to fix it so it charges for each item sold ?

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Happening to me as well. I don't see anything in the initial listing nor in the shipping preferences that allow me to charge a certain amount for the second/additional item. Please help.

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

@moses-goat If you want to set a shipping cost for each additional items on different listings, you have to set up shipping rules. Go to your shipping preferences, click on edit next to 'Allow combined payments and shipping.'  Make sure that it is set up to allow them.  Then set up a calculated and/or a flat rate shipping rule.  If you are using the flat rate boxes on most of your listings you could make a flat rate shipping rule to charge $xx for each additional item.  On each listing that you want to use that rule on, there is a space below the domestic shipping section to check off which rule you want to use.

Re: Shipping charges on multiple items

Many thanks @pjcdn2005

Revising to be flat rate allowed me to add the necessary extra per item cost. This works for my situation. Much appreciated.
