Shipping a return

I am shipping a 10 lb item back to the seller who gave me Priority Mail return label.  There is no weight on the return label. On the old address label it stated 10 lbs. I want to package it sufficiently so that there is no further breakage. If package weighs more than the what the label is for, will the Post Office require me to pay out of pocket? or will they ship the package to the seller with postage due?

Re: Shipping a return

You don't have to worry about it because you just slapped the label on the package that was given to you. If the postage is insufficient the carrier will leave a note or ask for additional postage when he/she makes the delivery.

Re: Shipping a return

A "Priority Mail Return Service" label weighs up to 70 pounds; it's a return service, not a postage-by-weight label.

Re: Shipping a return

Thank you. I plan to package it in a huge box with lots of airbags and bubble wrap. It might weigh more than the original 10 lbs. It is a relief to know that the shipping label will cover up to 70 lbs.  I really could not in good conscience ship it back in the same manner as it was shipped to me.
