I recently sold an item, and I’m now printing the shipping label. When I click purchase, I get the message, Shipping Label, Invalid State. I’d like to ship it as soon as possible, so any help would be great.
Thanks.

Did anyone figure this out . the state isn’t wrong ! It’s quite simple . You select the drop down . Does anyone know what this exactly is ?

I’m a first time seller and experiencing this same issue. 4 months since your original post and problem is still not resolved. Thanks for you other sellers 😁

This same issue is happening every time I am trying to ship an item. It doesn't matter what state it is going to, "invalid state" on every attempted postage purchase

I just had the same issue trying to print a label from MA to VA from my iPhone. I logged into eBay from my chromebook and was able to print the label without a problem.

I have only used a desktop PC, no phones or tablets, etc.
I run a web search for the incorrect address and figure out the typo the buyer made.
Then click on Edit Label and make the correction.
I have never received a comment from the buyer or had a loss of Seller Protection for these minor corrections.

Hi, I had the same problem I tried it on my phone and iPad and got the same error message. Once I went to my desktop it printed the label with no problems. Thanks for all the comments and solutions

I've had the exact same problem and I noticed I only got the "invalid state" notice when I tried to print the label from my phone. When I printed from my computer it worked fine.

I think I’ve figured it out! If I try to print the label from the eBay app it always says invalid state. Although if I go on my phones web browser app (safari) I am able to print it. Hope this works for you guys!

I had the same issue, with a new eBay account. I figured out that I had not added the Paypal account for the payment option for USPS labels. Every time I shipped from my iPhone I had to put in my password to log into my Paypal account. I read the small print were it asked if I wanted to add this account as my payment option. I clicked yes and I printed my first label from my phone today. I hope this helps someone. Took me a week to figure this out and grateful it works! I was wasting time opening the desktop versus. 🙂

Question was never answered.
Why doesn’t EBay answer this question?Well, sometimes the “correct” answer can not be divined because the poster does not provide all the information.
For example, the two previous posters point out that
1) it worked on my PC but not my iPad
2) it worked on my laptop but not my iPhone
Therefore the problem seems to be primarily with the device, and only secondarily with eBay’s program.
That is why we sometimes have to guess at an answer. And probably why eBay does not jump in at every chance.
I’m going to add a 3rd combination here: it worked on my PC but not my iPhone. (Laptop and iPad, anyone? :))
This would be enough clue that something is wrong with eBay’s app for iOS.
”Problem with the device”? Nah.
Device does not validate the states. What does is the logic of the website, which in this case seems to be correct, and the logic in the app, which apparently is not correct.
So that should be attracting eBay’s attention, the bug is screaming. But I’m afraid eBay is not reading this forum. It’s for users’ discussions, it seems. If you want to report a bug, it seems that contacting tech support is the way.
As for myself, I found this forum useful because, when I unsuccessfully tried to print a label I needed asap, it gave me idea to go turn on my PC and try the website instead of the iPhone app which I always use. That worked. Now time to report the bug and hope it’ll get fixed soon.

Just a thought: does the app store its own copy of the default addresses for Return Address and Ship From ZIP location? Is it possible that either of those has a typo, is incomplete or blank?
In other words, if the Invalid State error occurs with every shipment, perhaps the Invalid State being referred to is not the one that came in with the buyer's payment?
