Someone else posted about this today and I am not able to reply to THAT post. The change to the calculator makes it LESS helpful and kind of scarier. Not cool to not let us reply to that first thread.

But that the new shipping calculator only gives you your shipping costs not what the buyer will pay. So its useless for sellers. Even if we put the zipcode of seller and buyer it doesnt give us the price just the discounted rate or sellers price that does nothing to calculate how we would like to list our item before listing it and then revising it. What a hot mess. This will cause more people leaving ebay.

100%! About 30 years ago I worked for a well known rental car agency as a rental agent. I remember really poorly thought out changes being made to the software that made it virtually impossible for us to sell customers upgrades, insurance, etc in spite of the fact that we were required to sell it to A) Keep our jobs and B) to get a commission check. What you said is exactly what I said then, college graduates with no real world, on the sales floor experience making decisions. You hit the nail on the head!

I agree. Shipping is not simply postage cost. I buy boxes, labels, packing materials, and tape so the USPS discount I get is absorbed by those costs and the eBay charges. I feel like my discount is my discount and if eBay is really concerned, they would forgo their fees.

I contacted Customer Service in Nov to complain. They said they were getting negative feedback, so I was hopeful that it would change. Obviously it hasn't, so I contacted them again today. The rep claims they have positive feedback too (really?? who would think that?), and they won't look at making changes unless there is more negative feedback. They said you can do that through the "leave feedback" link on the website. You can find it by clicking on the round "?" button in the lower right hand corner on your seller page. I would encourage everyone to do this so that we can get this changed back or fixed in some other way.

Final value fee is charged on shipping as well, so we pay the same whether you offer free shipping or not.
